Default The nausea is kiling me!

I am 2 days post op. They let me come home yesterday afternoon. Since about early morning day after surgery the nausea has been unbearable. I walk around with a spittoon all day. Major dry heaves! I'm getting sores in my mouth. I try to sip liquids but nothing stays down. I had a patch on in the hospital but they took that off at discharge. I'm taking Zofran every 4-6 hours but nothing helps! Any advice?

So sorry! Please call your surgeon, I know they have meds for your issue. If what you're on doesn't work, hopefully they have something else that will. Feel better!

What sraebaer said: call your surgeon.
This has to stop, you'll get dehydrated.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Ginger tea -- but call your doctor. Dehyrdation can be serious.

Sorry to hear you are going through some issues. Hopefully it is part of your system just going through the healing process and it will go away within a couple days. I think you need to go back and see your medical team if the symptoms keep up because you should not have to go through this. Keep your head up because some people experience certain issues but soon they will go away and you will feel positive and see wonderful changes in your body!!

Yeah you need to go back in, you might need fluids and a different recipe of anti nausea. Horrible for you, nausea is the pits... it will pass I promise but you need some good drugs and treatment. Let us know...

Thanks to all for your suggestions. My Dr. called in an anti-nausea patch for me which seems to be helping a little. I finally was able to drink a protein shake today. Baby steps.....

I had a medicine that the doctor gave me but not sure what kind it was. It helped tremendously. As stated above, the most important thing is to stay hydrated. And if you are already starting to get dehydrated that can actually be making you more nauseous. Talk to your doctor. The good thing is it should keep getting a bit better by the day. Don't be a hero. Talk to y our doctor right away.
