    Default Goal Weight

    Hi folks,

    Goal weight.

What are you choosing to do/aim for?* i.e 60-80% of your excess weight (ie the weight over a BMI of 24.9)? reaching a BMI of 24.9? your height in cm - 100 =/- 3 kg (e.g. for me height 153.5 cm - 100 = 53.5 kg +/- 3 kg)?*the lower end of the former? a personal number?

Me -* my dietitians was* 53 kg (+/-3 kg), although my long term is 50 kg I actually got down a lot lower in the first year (due to sickness).* I found my "happy" weight around 47 kg, so that is my goal long term weight, hence it's a personal goal weight.** Hence my "ticker"/slider looks as though I am over goal weight, even though I am well and truly in healthy weight range!

I was never given a goal weight by my surgeon or Nutritionist. My personal goal weight is 70kg (almost there!) However this would still leave me in the "overweight" category for my height. To get to a "normal" bmi I should be 63kg. I will be happy to get to 70kg and will then see what my body wants to do.

My goal was to hit the healthy BMI range, which I did. I am at the high of the range, and would prefer more towards the middle, but I feel fabulous so am not going to worry about it. I have been here for FOUR YEARS so I think it's where my body wants to be.

My doctor also gave me that 70% or so range of excess weight to lose. I thought that was stupid. If I quit at 70%, what's the point? I would still be quite overweight.

My doctor didn't give me a goal weight but I had decided that I wanted to get to 148lbs. that's the lowest I've ever been as an adult, and JUST into the normal weight range for my height. I'm 153 today, so I'm close.
I'm also wearing only size 6 pants, and mostly medium size tops, so if I don't lose anything else, I'm really happy.

No set from doctor, but I set 135. I'm at 125 +/- 1, which feels good. I'm 5'4", with 21.8 BMI. And 66 years, all normal labs, reduced meds.

I just chose a goal weight of 120 since it was on the higher end of a healthy BMI. Seemed realistic and obtainable. When I hit it I was happy as hell. Then my body decided it wanted to be lower and I lost an additional 12 lbs. I am happy at my weight for my height. I am only 4'11" so I feel I look good.

I didn't really get given a goal weight but I thought maybe 65 which was in healthy weight range then I changed it to 60kg... as long as you feel healthy I really don't think it matters :-)

I picked a number, that was in the middle of my healthy BMI range.
    That number came and went.
I am way below that now.
I seem to maintain at my current weight.
In my opinion, the body decides it's own goal weight.
Based on numerous factors, that we cannot influence ourselves.
The weight I have now is the weight I used to have way back, when I was 19... I am 64 now.
Having said that, I wouldn't mind gaining a couple of pounds though.
    I really look very skinny.
    No more voluptuous curves anymore...
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.
