    Default Recent Sleeve Surgery

Hi! I just had my sleeve surgery 38 days ago, and am on "Soft Foods". I'm on solid food, but it has to be soft and really chopped up. I had my surgery in Mexico at Oasis of Hope Hospital by Dr. Maytorena. He was fantastic, as was the hospital. I would highly recommend him and the hospital if your insurance would not cover the sleeve. Here is FL most insurances won't cover you, even if you have qualifying medical conditions (I had 3!). My BMI was 36.8, I had fatty liver and was pre diabetic.

I'm down 23.6 lbs since surgery, and have now hit a plateau. Sucks. I think I hit it the beginning of this week. I started walking on Monday, and I'm tracking my intake, and am doing good, but ugh...

I'm looking to see what others have done in the "plateau" situation, and what can be expected. Thanks!

We all or most of us seem to hit a brick wall once in a while and the losing seems to halt. Don't be alarmed it is normal, it's your body adjusting to the new sleeve. It will pass in a few days, a week, maybe 2 weeks? Every person is different and it just has to work itself out. I believe I hit the wall at around 1 month or so and it lasted at least 10 days probably a few more.

The good news is..........it will pass and you will keep going down. Just let it go through the process and Uncle Sleeve will be good to you. Best of luck on your journey!!

What you do in a plateau situation are the very same things you were doing before the plateau situation.

    That is all.

    You're doing great.

Thanks! I was reading here about the "3 week plateau" and it can hit between 3 and 5 weeks... Well yep.. I've hit it... I will just keep eating well (I track to make sure I meet the 500-800 calorie intake as I'm having difficulty with that) and I walk 5 days a week... It will kick in again!

It makes no sense, but it happens to almost all of us. (I do remember practically crying to my nutritionist with "How could I not be losing, I'm hardly eating a thing?!?") Like others said, just keep eating how you should be and you'll start to lose again. Promise. In the meantime it may help to hide your scale, it messes with your head.

Just as the other have stated, keep doing what you are doing. It's nothing you can really do when you hit that plateau besided keep moving forward. I weighed myself daily and when the numbers on the scale didn't move, I was like oops, we have a problem. The encouragement/support found on this site gave me solace. I stopped weighing daily, I think I weight once a week or biweekly. When I weighed again it went from remaning constant to a 12 pounds down! So, keep up the great work!!!

First stall. Happens to probably 95% of sleevers some time between weeks 2 and 5. Relax, breathe, keep following the rules and you will bust through that stall in no time. Congrats on your success so far!
