    Default Surgery tomorrow!

Tomorrow, June 21st is my gastric sleeve surgery. I've been on the pre-op diet for 2 weeks. I thought I'd lose a bunch on that but only 4 lbs. So many hurdles and roadblocks have stood in my way for the past year trying to get this surgery approved and now I'm finally here! I'm anxious, nervous, and excited!

MB....not everyone loses a lot on the pre op. You will lose when you are sleeved much easier than on the pre op. Wishing you a quick and easy recovery. Remember that the first week is the hardest but it will get easier each day. Good luck and welcome!

    Hi MBGray!

To feel anxious, nervous, and excited is completely normal. I think it would abnormal if you weren't experiencing any of these sensations. But know that this surgery is fairly easy to recover from and that so long as you follow ALL of the post-operative instructions you will do just fine.

The one piece of advice I offer to everyone I discuss this with is to WALK, WALK, WALK. You will be expected to walk around the surgical unit the day of your surgery post-op. Don't complain about it. Just do it. It is an integral part of the healing process, and it promotes exercise and the healthy lifestyle you will be living from here on out.

Don't get me wrong, you may feel some discomfort, but it is generally minimal in nature and nothing that will prevent you from getting out of bed and doing some much needed walking.

I wish you all of the best on your journey. Should you follow your post-op instructions, you will do well and be surprised at just how easy the weight falls off in the initial months following surgery.

    Have a great day!

Take lots of naps that first week. When you're not napping, you'll be sipping and walking. You'll do great!!
