    Default I am so tired

    Good Morning,

I see that a lot of you post about going to a nutritionist, well I had one meeting and it was with a group of about 15 people. So there was no time for questions.

I am so tired all the time. I get up at 7:00, get dressed and eat breakfast and then I'm ready for a 2-3 hour nap. Lunch then another nap at 5:00. I've had blood work recently and is no obvious reasons for me being so tired. I have seen a lot of you say that you have more energy after losing weight.

Do you think being fat and not eating right could make you tired? Anyone with this experience.

I'm hoping the surgery and losing weight will give me more energy.

Many years ago when I was on 'one of the many' diets I tired I was extremely tired. I just wanted to sit or lay around all day. I was protein deficient. I was following the plan but I wasn't eating enough protein. After really following the diet and increasing my protein grams to half my body weight the fatigue went away. Although I gained 50 of the 97 pounds back I did learn that protein was important to feeling good. By the way, I gained the weight because I went back to my old habits. A lesson I'm not repeating this time around. Assess your protein intake and see where you are or call and request a one on one meeting with the dietian.

You will be surprised by how much more energy you have once the weight starts coming off. I used to be exhausted by the end of the work day and now I still have plenty of energy at the end of the day.

If we were friends in real life having this conversation in person or via phone and you said that to me, I would bust out snort-laughing. And I wouldn't be able to control it.

Eventually, after I slapped myself in the face to stop laughing, I would say in a too-loud voice:

"Hell, yes! Everybody who's fat and eats way too much processed carbs and sugar feels tired."

By the way, that's why they call fat people lazy!

And for the record, they're not lazy. They're EXHAUSTED!

Absolutely. But you will also be very tired the first week post op and a few weeks thereafter you will still be somewhat tired. But as your body adjusts and you lose the weight you will get your energy back. The most important things are staying hydrated, getting enough protein, and taking your vitamins (especially B12).

    Absolutely!

It has been really interesting for me to read the physiology of what a high carb diet along with processed vegetable oils has on the body. Unfortunately, this is the diet that has been promoted for the last 40 + years. It is also known as the Standard American Diet (SAD).

UK is on the ball, the "The Diabetes UK nutrition guidelines for people with diabetes have been updated, and there is no shortage of talking points.

Chief among the positives are the recommendations to restrict carbohydrate intake, a significant moment for Diabetes UK following years of advocating moderately high carb consumption, with the charity recognising that limiting carbs, particularly those refined, can help people achieve remission from type 2 diabetes." https://www.diabetes.co.uk/in-depth/...on-guidelines/

Yeah, being fat makes you tired. Nods.
After my surgery I was exhausted for 6 weeks. I complained a lot. And then it got better.
Now I don't really get too tired even though my life is insanely busy and I'm up and out to the gym at 5 am every morning.
Look forward to some good energy.
Incidentally, when I feel a bit tired its because my B12 shot is due usually so its worth looking after your B12 :-)

LOL... your response is awesome because it's exactly what I was thinking.
One thing that I found really interesting is that I also experienced TONS of energy after my surgery (not the first week or two... I was tired then) and I remember thinking that BEFORE my surgery, if I skipped a meal, I'd be weak and exhausted and positive that I had really low blood sugar and felt ready to pass out... then after surgery, I was barely eating knew that the problem before was partly due to my high sugar, high carb diet, my weight, and also my own sabotaging thoughts.
