I have my gastric sleeve scheduled for 8/1/2018 and my husband is having the lap band done the same day. We'll be flying out to San Diego on 7/31/2018 and will fly back home on 8/4/2018. Excited and nervous but ready to make this change.
Very best of luck to you you will be soooo pleased. It really is an excellent surgery.
Just wanted to say though that in Australia we don't do lap bands anymore as there have been found to be so many ongoing problems with erosion etc. Im sure your husband has done his research but its worth reading up if he hasn't as he might want to take a different option.
let us know how you get on and welcome. Join in the boards and ask lots of questions, heaps of knowledgeable people here and support :-)
My US surgeon doesn’t do lapband surgeries anymore either and hasn’t for several years.
Your hubby should do some more research about the downsides that have emerged about those devices.
Best wishes.

I think a lot of places don't do the lap band anymore. I did my research and I found that the amount of upkeep (filling and emptying the band) seems daunting and the amount of issues seems like it is not worth the risk. I am sure he has his reasons. I hope it works out for him. There are quite a few band to sleeve conversions on here. They either converted due to no weight loss or due to complications such as band slipping.
Yay for you for picking the sleeve. It is pretty amazing.
That is great that both of you will be going through the journey together. You can help each other along the way and learn different things. I hope everything goes well and best of luck to you, you will soon realize that it is one of the best decisions you can make!
