    Default Pouch Reset

So for starters I am to blame for my recent eating failures. It hasn't even been a year and i noticed i completely stopped tracking my food and though i'm still not eating a ton. I am not eating what i should because "life" happened the past 2 months BUT that's not an excuse. I did not have surgery just to mess it all up again. I wanted to change my entire outlook on life and my entire outlook on myself as well. To make better choices and better eating habits. So i am a member of a group and we are doing the pouch reset. If anyone else is in the same boat i am and wants to start a new i will be posting it below. I know these people have been doing this and have kick started themselves again and have lost at least 10lbs + and got their mind right again in the process. So i post it here if anyone is interested. I will not start it on Monday because everyone says oh i will start it Monday NOPE i'm starting tomorrow because why wait until Monday, if its that important to me today then i should start asap. No lolly gagging about it. Thanks for letting me Rant ... I can give 10 days of my life to start myself a new, i gave 20 years of self destruction, so what's 10 days.

    The pouch reset diet

    Day 1

    • Clear liquids only.

    • Water

    • Broth

    • Jell-O (sugar free)

    • Decaf tea

    • Decaf coffee

    • Sugar free Popsicles

    • Sugar free drinks that are not carbonated.

    Day 2 and 3

    • Full liquids.

    • Protein powder mixed with a sugar free non-carbonated clear

    liquid.

    • Sugar free pudding.

    • Soup with soft noodles.

    • Non-fat yogurt

    • Carnation instant breakfast. Sugar free option.

    • Very thin creamed soups. No chunks.

    • Sugar free sorbet.

    • Very water hot oatmeal. Check the sugar content.

    • Diluted no-sugar added juice.

    • Sugar free, nonfat ice cream.

    • Thinned applesauce.

    • Remember the goal is to not eat or drink anything that is going to stretch your stomach. So drink or eat these in very small amounts and limit your intake to very thin/liquid consistency foods.

    Day 4 to 6

    • Pureed foods.

    • Almond milk or coconut milk makes a great protein shake.

    • Hummus

    • Cottage cheese (low fat)

    • Soft cereals – Let your cereal sit in the non-fat milk until it’s soft.

    • Soups – no chunks

    • Scrambled eggs – these are a great source of protein.

    • If you can puree the food, it’s acceptable as long as it’s healthy and easy to digest.

    • It’s best to stay away from meat at this point.

    • Again, you are trying to reduce the size of your stomach so no solid foods at this point.

    Day 7 to 9

    • Soft foods.

    • Soft cereals – Let your cereal sit in the non-fat milk until it’s soft.

    • Soft vegetables – steam or boil them until they are soft.

    • Soft cheeses – limit these, they are typically high in fat.

    • Ground chicken or beef. Add some beef or chicken stock to keep the meat soft.

    • Soups

    • Scrambled eggs – these are a great source of protein.

    • Soft (steamed) fish. Remember to chew well.

    • Canned tuna and salmon (you can add low fat mayo). Great source of protein.

    • Mashed fruit. Bananas, avocados, and canned fruit (watch sugar content).

    Day 10 and Beyond

    • Healthy foods.

    • Introduce these foods slowly and in healthy portions. The size of your fist should be the size of an entire meal.

    • Typically, a post bariatric surgery diet will focus on protein and vegetables but always consult with your surgeon.

    • Drink liquids at least 30 minutes prior to eating and 30 minutes after eating.

    • Eat slowly. Allow at least 30 minutes per meal. Chew well.

    • Fruits are typically OK in moderation. Stay away from sugar and nutrient lacking carbohydrates (pasta

We are the same size, almost the same weight (I'm a few lbs heavier) and literally in the same boat! It's like I was reading my own post. I'm disgusted and disappointed where I am today. Never thought I'd slip off the wagon so quickly. Is this a doctor/nutritionist approved 'thing'? I've heard about the pouch reset but haven't researched it. Very eager to try it too. Good luck - wishing you MUCH success!

This comes from a very respectable website. https://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-...weight-regain/
We actually don't have a pouch (that is a bypass term) but the diet is basically going back to basics to help you feel your full again. It can definitely be beneficial.

    Hi Psparks,

Congratulations on your reflection and taking back control of your health and happiness! My best wishes and prayers are with you.

I will be sleeved 2 weeks from today. From your experience, can you share with me how you got off track and give advice on how I can stay on-track? It would really help me avoid the "potholes" down the road.

    Thanks!

    To stay on track:
    -log your food and water
    -exercise daily
    -proteins first
    -no drinking with meals
    -take your vitamins
    -weigh yourself weekly (or daily)

    That's it.

I think that whole "pouch reset thing"is purely psychological.
More a "mind reset" than a "pouch reset".
That does not mean, it will work for some people, if you believe in that stuff.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Christie is right its just what they call it Good luck to you I am sure you will do great with it!. The mental mind game we play with food really weights me down! But i started tracking again today and literally have 3 clear liquid drinks in front of me and one protein shake.

Honestly I started noticing it last week and ignored it but it started when I stopped holding myself accountable to what I put in my mouth. I tracked everything and stopped 2 months ago because of family issues and being so dang busy ( that was the excuse I told myself). I haven’t gained any weight but I haven’t lost what I wanted to either. As long as I track and exercise and make better choices consciously I was doing great. Its when I stopped I noticed I was picking up old and bad habits again. Like replacing my oatmeal with a Ό of a cinnamon roll. Or going to that co-workers office who always has candy and reaching and grabbing what I shouldn’t be. So for me its accountability when I hold myself accountable and track everything that goes in my mouth I do lots better. I stopped exercising and so my husband God love him said hey get off your duff.. and work out with me more or less. He noticed it to so that helped. Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery it’s a great tool just gotta work the tool and not slip back into a bad mindset

you could be right we will see, most people have been saying though they feel fuller like they did when they first had it done and can not eat as much as they had been eating is the reports from the group i have been getting. All of them who have done it have lost weight so far so i dunno. we will see. You are right though i need the Mind reset bigtime

Sounds like a plan! I weigh daily, and if I see that I am gaining past the alarm number (generally 5 - 7 pounds) then I do a modified version of that. I just do as Christie says, "get back to basics." I refocus my efforts on eating nutrient dense high protein foods and limit my carb intake. I also make sure that I am logging everything that I eat. Snacking will be the death of me! Your plan is much more intensive, but if it works for you then definitely do it!

Good luck, work your sleeve and you will see results!
