Love my woods, but today I had the great idea of waiting until evening to hike. Didn't realize that's when the bugs come out. Back to sunrise for me!
Went from shoveling snow at mom's all April to 90+ days overnight in May. What happened to spring?

Our spring was non-existent as well. We get "cant-see-ums", which bite ya up!

We are having a mini heatwave here in the uk, its lovely!
I have done nothing other than potter round my garden for the last two weeks and sit in the sunshine, I couldn't have timed my operation any better!
I hate bugs! as soon as it cools down all the mosquitos come out and the gnats drive me insane when I'm working in the garden!
and yeah, the weather here is so wierd, Saturday hit 90, Sunday was in the 50's, yesterday 70, today I think 85

I don't know what is worse.... Being cold (all the time) or being hot......
I think I'll take hot.
Bugs are a different issue all together. I refer to the little ones you can't see as "the flying teeth." Nothing ruins exercise like a swarm of bugs. Went mountain biking with my son the other day and we stopped to take a break at one point...... I seriously thought we might die from blood loss due to the aggressive mosquitos.
We camp a lot and recently tried one of the new Thermacel bug repellers. It seemed to work well. They make a smaller version that you clip on your belt when hiking. We have a backpacking trip coming up and I might get one to try it out. If it works it will be a miracle cure.
Worse than the flying teeth and mosquitos here are the ticks..... they are disgusting and there seem to be so many this year. Oh well can't stop exercising.......
Glenn, thanks for the Thermacel bug repeller tip.

OMG yes. The bugs are terrible this year. Even with bug spray it seems that I am getting eaten up. Boo!!! And here it has been in the 100's already. I work out early so luckily it is only around 75-77 at that time. There is no way I could work out in the evenings with this heat. Crazy year for us here in Texas as we had an exceptionally cold and long winter and now we are having a hot summer already. I kind of figured that would happen.
