10 days post op. Doing better daily. No real problems but I have very little energy. When do you think it will return?
Protein will help. Are you meeting your minimum protein requirement each day? I basically drank shakes that whole first 2 weeks.
I slept the first week and then started feeling better at week 2. I hope you feel better every day, I think you will!
Yes. I make sure I get at least 60 grams per day. I also bought protein powder and add it to anything I can and I don’t count that. I also make sure I get enough liquids daily. I’m rarely hungry but don’t usually have trouble eating (drinking) what I’m supposed to. But I have to work on it by starting by 7:00 am and still squeezing stuff down till 9:00 pm.
My DIL was sleeved 8 months ago. She says that she never could hold more than 2 oz of anything for weeks. She makes me feel I’m doing something wrong. ☹️
Thank you all for your comments and advice. It is very much appreciated! Note: I eat everything out of my measuring cup. Saves on dishes!
It was about 8 weeks for me. I also at that point made sure that I took my protein powder EVERY DAY in a low cal hot chocolate drink.
I went to bed early and rested whenever I had the opportunity and slept in late whenever I could ( I am self employed and have 9 Dogs) so I changed our routine and for once in my life Gave In.
I am normally someone who pushes on and on, But this was nice to say to myself " I have self funded my sleeve and I deserve this and I am concentrating on everything that I need right now just for today - because this is my investment to myself and I need to get this right! so sleeping and resting is what I am going to do"
Its still early days ( 12 weeks for me) but then something changed - I was up earlier than normal, feeling as if I could move around easily I am doing my work and catching up on big jobs that I could not face for months pre op. I have began swimming every day riding my bike, using my weights (until now they had been used as a door stop on the floor).
I am having massage to release all the tight muscles that have collected with all the stress of starting my own business in the year 2000.
Feeling Good now - so take time if you can for you. I was never ever able to give in to rest and sleep until this operation and even in January this year I had my parathyroids removed I was working in hospital !! and straight back to my office the day after I travelled home from hospital.
Not this time - I just gave in.
All the Best - Try to be positive.
It will return.
I think it really comes down to individual experience, but mine lasted roughly three weeks while I know of other folks who have had it last longer (or shorter) periods of time. It is a little rough right now now, but one day you will wake up revitalized and full of life. The best advice I can offer: take it easy, rest when you feel the need, and maintain your post-operative diet (fluids, protein, etc.)
10 days is not long, I felt worse in week 3 than I did before, I think it took me about 6 weeks to feel normal. Your body is still healing so that's taking a lot of your energy, it can take a few weeks to recover just from the anasestic. It's important to listen to your body, that's what I have learnt. Your body has had a major trauma and is being fed less food so it had so many changes to deal with. Treat yourself well, rest when you need and nourish yourself with high quality food and you will be rewarded. Good luck
It took about 3-4 months for me

Week 2 was the first turning point for me. Then one month. Then my energy continued gradually to increase. By Month Three I was firing on all cylinders. Maybe even sooner than that.
I think you're doing great, by the way.
