    Default proper food!

Just a quick update! I saw the dietitian today and told her I haven't eaten for almost a week as I could not face puree or anything milk based. She said because I am almost 6 weeks post op, I could start eating soft food. Hopefully this will be a turning point as I am so weak that I cannot exercise. I am making salmon and mash potato. I don't expect to be able to eat allot but it will be food. She was otherwise very happy with my progress and said I am in the top end of the weight loss group, so I was happy, but that could be because I haven't eaten much this week. I also went to the shop to buy a pair of shorts and t shorts to wear. It was the first time in years I didn't cry in the fitting rooms, as I thought I don't look that bad.

i had my supper and it was delicious. First proper food in 6 weeks. I only manged about 6 teaspoons but that was enough to feel satisfied and not have an empty stomach. I can't wait to be able to eat a nice salad again, that a long way off though.

That's awesome Elllie! I'm so glad to hear you are cleared to eat soft foods, it's going to make a huge difference. Some of my favorite soft foods are refried beans with melted cheese. The fat free chili in the can is great too, especially the fat free turkey chili with melted cheese. I pretty much lived on that and cottage cheese with chives and chicken salad made from canned chicken, I dressed it up with some tasty seasonings. I start solids tomorrow and can hardly wait. Oh and congrats on your NSV, it must have been soooo nice looking in that dressing room mirror

It's slow going at this stage Elllie and you might find food that doesn't agree with you but you will get the hang of it. I hope you get more energy back soon which Im sure you will!

Wow, it's interesting how different the post eating protocols are. I was allowed to start soft foods on day 11 but only 2 tbsp at each meal. Glad you finally get to have some decent food now. My favorite soft foods are baked potato (no skin) with a little shredded cheese and a little greek non fat yogurt. Don't know if you are allowed crackers as that is on my soft food list as long as it has minimal fat. But a cracker and hummus is delicious. Refried beans with cheese. Also like scrambled egg w/ a sliver of avacado, yum. Cream of wheat using non fat milk instead of water. LF Cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce.

Hi Ellie, I am also in the uk and had my sleeve done a week today. Congrats on yours and also being able to eat soft food. My guidelines say liquid for one week then puree for two weeks then soft food after that.

Today I am going to try some liquidised scrambled egg, such a luxury after a mainly milk diet this week!

P.s, I know a lot of americans use this site but I have no idea what refried beans are, can someone explain?

I was cleared for all foods at 4 weeks. Not that I could eat very much of it. Sounds like the real food is just what you needed. I am so glad you enjoyed buying your new shorts. It is only going to keep getting better and better. Self confidence is the best NSV!!!!
