    Default Making Maintanance Work!

So after the stress of getting mom's home of 61 years on the market, selling home, cleaning out home, moving mom to my state, setting up her new retirement apartment, getting her acclimated, getting new doctor appointments, and all that goes into moving, I'm finding retirement is harder than working! Ann2 was right when she said this would be the most difficult time of my life. Doesn't help that mom (91) fell at my house before the movers arrived and broke her ribs. And the stress was causing her to have no short term memory. (Seems to be coming back...). All you young people out there should have more than one kid so your children can share in the responsibility when you get old.

So this weekend for the 1st time since April 1st we finally got away to the lake! To be able to relax in the sun, kayak, read, priceless. (Oh and wear a swim suit and look good). The shock was when I got home and realized I had gained 2 1/2 pounds. So yesterday I just got back to eating how I should: eggs for breakfast, protein shake for snack, left over chicken and cauliflower for lunch, and shrimp stir-fry for dinner. Took a nice afternoon hike in the woods. Zap - back to my goal this morning.

So my one and only maintanance tip is to weigh yourself every day. That way there are no surprises and it's very easy to get back on track.

Good advice, I intent to follow it.
I'll keep weighing daily, it does not mess with my head.
How is your mom doing now?
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Prayers for continued healing for your mom (and you, as well). I know you'll keep her engaged in life, and its so important. She's fortunate to have you available.

I have four adult children plus two step sons. I'm quite certain they would take turns, because I can already see that me 24/7 would be an overload for anyone!

So glad you got to destress! I'm going back on retreat the end of May, as its an uncommonly crowded month with family activities, all of which are nice, but wears me out. (Then again, my daughters are very high energy even as adults).

Glad to hear that things as settling down a little for you.Such a stressful time. Hope your Mom is healing. Broken ribs are just awful. Whilst I am not yet in maintenance I definitely weigh every day and can't see that ever changing.

Yep, I broke my ribs along with my neck about a year and a half ago and the ribs were by far the most painful. I can't even remember how long it lasted to reassure mom!

When my 82 year old Mother fell and broke her ribs it took about 6 weeks for the pain to go. It did get steadily better but it's not nice - as you know from your experience.
