    Default 13 months post op--

Hi all! I was supposed to have posted pictures from the 5k Foam Glow Run I went to in April, but haven't gotten to it until now. 13 months since surgery but 16 months since it all began (3 month pre op diet included).

The 'run" was not a run as it turned out. There was NO way one could run in the dark, in the desert, at this fun event. You would be asking to break a leg; or neck; or worse. I (and the girls I went with) ended up walking the miles and did it with ease- and in quick time too. The reward was getting blasted at high power by neon colored foam and LOUD party music. It was the most fun I have had in a LONG time. (I may be 60, but I'm not dead yet.)

I dropped 102 pounds by the time I was 6 months out from surgery and have done relatively well. I exercise and still attend Zumba 4 days a week and even began jogging last fall and my appetite increased and I built some muscle. My scale went up a little bit but I haven't panicked. One thing I have noticed- - and I am not sure why - - but I can drop pounds so much faster NOW than all the decades I spent pre surgery trying to lose weight. Weird. Anyway, with summer fast approaching (it's in the 90's here already in Las Vegas), it's time to buckle down and drop a few pounds for the bathing suit season. Don't get me wrong... it's not a cake walk, but it's a helluva lot better than my life BEFORE the surgery.
(Pictures are going to be added to another photo album.)

I have wanted to do one of those foam glow runs, too. I love doing all the races and stuff but man can you spend a lot of money on that hobby. LOL. I just bought the kiddo a new car so now I have to hold off on some fun races.

That foam glow run was the most fun I’ve had in a while. Messy, but fun. It was $20. and one of the least expensive runs. You’re right, some runs cost a ton! It was a warm night but super gusty winds. The foam was blowing EVERYWHERE for a while then calmed down. I’d go again next year even though actual running is not logical for the course.

Not sure if these will appear as pictures. I did make a tiny FOAM GLOW album under my albums pages.
I'm the tall, old one (LOL)!

Wow, you are 60? You look younger in your after picture! I am 56 and look quite young for my age, but one of my biggest fears is that the weight loss will age me. Did you do anything in particular to keep from getting sagging skin? I have a NuFace and I am planning on actually using it, to help tone the facial area. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Congratulations on your transformation, you look fabulous!

I had concerns too, that when I lost weight I would look wrinkled and haggard, and just downright horrible. (but I was willing to go through that, if it helped me shed all this FAT.) I had a friend years ago who lost weight and her face looked like a greyhound dog afterwards (and she dropped 30 pounds, tops). She had major wrinkles before the weight loss and it seemed to have magnified 100% afterwards (she was a smoker.) Then I realized I don't smoke, I don't have wrinkles (a couple crows feet), although I do have a little neck skin that I wish were smaller, and it's not wrinkled, but it doesn't bother me too much. I have ALWAYS used a facial moisturizer (from late teens) morning and night and I think that helps me. I don't have a lot of hanging skin THANK GOD around my stomach or upper legs. I never had a FUPA (?) and what I do have, I can live with. MY 'bat wings'/'bingo arms' aren't going to go away unless I seek the skilled hands of a surgeon and I don't have money for that. I'm OK with it.

I do try and keep toned by going to Zumba 4 days a week; and I walk my treadmill at home also. I just began doing 100 squats every morning here at home (a routine we do at Zumba, with music so it's fun... as much fun as squats can be, LOL!)
I do feel so much more youthful after shedding all the weight. For not having any work done, I'm doing OK. Just trying to age gracefully. These 2 pictures are 2 years apart... the FAT one from May 5, 2016 (our walk through date on our house) and the second one from 2 days ago... May 8, 2018.
