    Default 2 weeks post op

HI! well its now 2 weeks post op and I am starting to feel allot better. I am still walking everyday, weather permitting. I am doing ok on the liquids, but will be happy when the next 2 weeks are over. The thought of just fluids for another 2 weeks is awful, but I have to do it. I am feeling a bit deflated at the moment as the scale hasn't shifted for a couple of days and since I am on only liquids I would have thought I would have lost quite a bit more since surgery. The weather doesn't help as I am housebound and can't go for my daily walks. A friend asked to go our for a meal and I had to say I am not feeling well due to a tooth problem, I hate lying but hey ho what can you do when you haven't told anyone. This forum is a life saver, especially today when I am feeling blue, perhaps if it was hot I would feel better.

    Hi Elllie,
You might have a bit of a stall in the next week or so, it's very common. I remember thinking I hadn't lost much at all for the first few weeks and then suddenly you notice it. It's like you go from large to small all at once. Remember to be taking measurements!!!

I stalled after two weeks when I went from liquids to puree, then continued to stall for around 4 weeks straight. I seem to stall for 3/4 weeks then in one weekend I'll lose 2 kg then do it all again, my surgeon says this is very typical and of course I had a revision (x-lap bander) so it must be all true regarding the metabolism of x-banders. Still, the scale number is going down. Try not to be too hard on yourself, keeping going, you will lose weight !!

    Highest Weight 128 kg
    Lap Band SW 121 kg
    Sleeve consult 126 kg
    Sleeve SW 118 kg

This is normal just as the previous ladies have stated. Hide your scale, it does more harm than good. For two weeks (week 3 & 4) I stall, the number never change. It was discouraging because like you I was only on liquid and thought the number should move down quickly. My doctor told me to stay off the scale, allow my body to adjust to the change, and just because you don't see the numbers moving you're still losing. I did just that and when I weighed in again. Stay encourage, it does get better!!

Your body always strives for equilibrium -- so it has to pause, as frustrating as that is for us! I have found if I measure myself, when I am not losing lbs, I am losing inches. That always perks me up.

But it's not the destination, its making a journey into new life!
    [I]HW: 240 lbs SW: 199 lbs GW: 140 lbs

    1 MO = 167.0 2 MO = 156.4 3 MO = 148.4 4 MO = 140.6
    5 M) = 136.0 6 MO = 130.0
    1 YR = 122.0 2 YR = 140.00 2.5 YR = 139
Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!

Stalling is frustrating, but it happens - it happens to me quite often. Just follow the program and the weight will come off. Some are slower losers than others.

    Good luck and stay strong!

Thanks for all the support and advice. I am feeling a bit better today because the weather was better and I could go for a walk. Tonight however I made curry for the family and it smells so nice and I was feeling that I wish I could have some, even just a taste. I had chicken soup, my staple for the past 2 weeks and for the next 2 weeks.

I started doing the Leslie Sansone walk at home DVDs because of the awful walking weather and now I'm hooked. I get up early, pop a disc into the DVD player, and go for a 4 mile walk in my family room, plus her latest system uses bands so I get upper body exercise, too. It's really improved my mood, too! I hated the waking up to crappy weather so I had to delay or skip my walk. Now if I get time to walk outside it's a bonus but I've had my daily exercise. It's also helped me move the scale.

I never imagined I could do an exercise DVD and enjoy it but this works for me. (You can try some of her workouts free on YouTube to see what you think.)

I am in a stall too. I am a little depressed too. I keep thinking we will get through this and when we are on the other side, we will be much stronger and wiser.

I stalled around week 2 (which is a bit early) but most people stall around week 3 which is known as the dreaded THREE WEEK STALL. (which is kind of a misnomer since it can occur any time between weeks 2 and 5....but 3 is the most common.) Hang in there. You are not failing. (Which was my thought.) Follow the plan and trust the rules. You will get there. And it will probably happen sooner than you anticipated.
