    Default TV Personality

This morning watching the news I noticed Al Roker is really putting the weight back on. Am I getting judgmental or what? But he was one of the first people I heard of having weight loss surgery, and brought it to the public's eye. I guess it just increases my determination to maintain my weight loss for life. Regain would be oh so easy.

I know.....this is my fear......mainly because for 40 years every pound I lost I gained (and then some!!) I wonder the thousands of pounds I've lost and gained over the years.

If I fail this time.....I honestly don't know if I can go out of my house EVER!!!

About 36 hours to go.....wish me luck!!!

I think you are being observational, not judgmental; I hear empathy and concern for someone whose been a role model for you. We all have the fear of a regain; we all have the fear of regain and he's had steady maintenance for a long while. It must be difficult to have shifting hours, travel and maintain your weight in the public eye.

I'd noticed it as well, and I'm sure he knows. Like you, I am determined not to regain. But then again, we were self-pay and retired, so its was a difficult decision to have the surgery.

You'll do great - good luck! We have all lost and gained hundreds of times. The thing is the sleeve WORKS. All the diets we have tried never worked.

I always look at people who have had WLS and notice if they gain as well. I think being aware is what is going to help us maintain and not regain. I can tell you that I weigh myself every day. I am not going to let 3 or 4 lbs creep up into 20+ before I leap into action. Enough said.

You totally CAN do this. Follow the rules and trust the sleeve.

    I'm with you.
I step on the scale every day.
    So far no surprises yet.

The sleeve works if you work the sleeve.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

There have been a couple times where 2 lbs have crept on after not eating the best around special occasions, and I swear having the sleeve has made bouncing back and getting back on track much easier. I feel horrible after a couple days of not getting my protein and over doing it on carbs, that it makes me WANT to go back to eating healthier. The restriction has helped tremendously with the emotional eating. I just can't do it anymore and it's forced me to deal with adverse feelings in a different way - ie, get a massage, exercise, meditate, etc.

I took mine when we went to the coast at Christmas for a couple of weeks -- not that at that point I could have eaten much. But every morning. I know my "normal" fluctuation is 1.5-2 lbs. I don't think my weight at 6.5 months is quite stable or at maintenance, looking at y'alls weights. But I let it get up to 240 by ignoring my diet and avoiding the scales because I felt lousy!

I gained a whole bunch really fast within about a 3 month time period last year. I think from April to August maybe. I was on a lot of steroids and I quit smoking. I went from 102 on April 1st to somewhere in the 115 range in August. I have stayed there since. I can't get rid of it to save my life. Everyone always starts off with "you look SO much better" before they tell me about how they've noticed my weight gain, but dammit, it still sucks.

The weirdest thing, and I don't know if it's all in my head or what... I haven't gained any weight in the last couple of weeks, but I look fat. My legs and belly look so fat and floppy, and yuck. I don't know what's going on.

I can't imagine you look fat at 115!
