Oh yes! Up to my panic attack as the mask was being put on my face in the OR. I've been lucky as I've had no pain or nausea, and I will say, you'll definitely be able to tell when you're full, at least in the beginning. In just over a week I've lost 15 pounds. There is no way I could lose that before in a year! I tried and tried. I'm not sure what the future holds for me, but I want to make the most out of this new tool I've been lucky enough to get. So yes, I had cold feet, but at this point I'm glad I stayed the course!

I think that everyone second guesses themselves. It is surgery after all.
I was self pay and only had 3 weeks between getting the go ahead and the actual surgery - and those 3 weeks were spent on the Optifast diet in preparation.
I can honestly say it is the best thing that I have ever done for myself.

You will certainly know when you are full. Your body will let you know that for sure.
I have been able to totally change my relationship with food. Before the op I ate when I was happy, when I was sad, when I was bored, when I was stressed....I just ate! Now I eat to fuel my body. I make sure that what I am putting in my mouth is the best that it can be. Protein is always first.
I have found that I don't even fancy the foods that I used to eat.....cookies, cake etc. I have had a cookie and a piece of chocolate and they are ok but they don't taste as good and I now don't think that they are worth the calories. I would rather have some good protein instead.

    Good luck.

Oh...you will know when you have eaten too much. You will be sick. It is painful. You get the froathies. I have no regrets. Only you can decide if this is right for you. My only regret is waiting so long to take the plunge. Good luck with your decision.

Well yes! That said, I went through photos of myself; I tried to remember what it was like to wake up and not think about my poor health and my size. And I truly had tried everything, including diet & exercise with supervision.

For me, at 65 and self-pay it was a very substantial life decision as we are retired. (Husband is 70.) My health has so improved; off 13 major medications; I have energy; I can go for walks, play with my grandkids, use the stairs. I have 7 "ologists" because of chronic health issues due to genetic/hereditary issues -- and ALL of them are over the moon.

So maybe journal your feelings, your fears -- I feared success because I didn't feel like I deserved it...but best decision I've made in so very many years!

    You'll be good!
    [I]HW: 240 lbs SW: 199 lbs GW: 140 lbs

    1 MO = 167.0 2 MO = 156.4 3 MO = 148.4 4 MO = 140.6
    5 M) = 136.0 6 MO = 130.0
    1 YR = 122.0 2 YR = 140.00 2.5 YR = 139
Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!
