    Default Exercise regimen?

Even at my size, I love cycling. My surgery is scheduled for August 7th, 2018 (during prime riding season here in Indiana). How long afterwards do you think I could possibly get back on the bike? Weeks? Months? I will do whatever I am told, but I really want to get back in the saddle to start dropping some pounds!!!

4 weeks after surgery I was cleared for all activities. I don't know about riding though. Maybe sooner? 4 weeks is a safe bet though.

I was told at 6 weeks I could do anything, and if it hurt, wait a little longer and try again. I am now able to do anything I want, I am 3.5 months post surgery and loving my new life

I agree with glenn... 4 to 6 weeks depending on your surgeon. So great that you already have an exercise that you love. You are going to do so well :-)

My doctor told me to listen to my body. I know that I was doing minor exercising around 2 or 3 weeks.

Not sure about biking, but I'm going to assume after 4 weeks they'll let you try it and see how it works for you. I was cleared for all exercise after 4 weeks.

    @ mandyjdc,
I really hope they let me! The only thing I could see is my belly bouncing my new stomach as I pedal. But, I'm not giving up hope!!!

That will be a short term problem.....

I used to ride and my stomach would hit my legs while I pedaled.......... Now my stomach and legs do not even come close to touching! You are going to love riding after the weight comes off! You will be needing money though, because, you're gonna want a new bike!!!!

I am fortunate and already ride a sweet bike. I have a Canoondale CAAD10 that is in perfect condition. Besides, I really don’t have any desires to get a different one. I have quite an investment in this one! I just look forward to riding with 160 less pounds. I already average 15.5/17 mph and hope to increase that to near 20! I have some distance rides I would love to do!my bike.jpg

For what it's worth, a friend has a TT bike (Cannondale Slice Dura-Ace Di2) and when he rides, he often picks up gravel and it lodges between his back tire and his Seat Tube. We often have to stop and wait on Ron to dig the rocks out! But, the Cervelo's are nice bikes! My bike weighs 16# loaded less rider and the drive trian is very responsive. I have the stock Shimano 105 on it but don't see in changing for what I ride. I do look forward in riding without legs hitting my belly! My legs are strong so I only foresee things becoming more fun on a ride as the pounds start dropping off.
Question - How to you fuel for a ride and then during ride, how do you drink? Right now, I carb up prior and then on ride I guzzle water on the flats as needed. If you can only sip water, how does that come into play?
