    Default Invited out

Hi. I was wondering if anyone can help with saying why you can't eat. My husband and I have been invited to friends for supper. As I can only have liquids I was wondering what to tell them. I thought I could say I have just had major dental treatment and can't eat, or that I have started a liquid only diet. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I have used the upset tummy excuse and the I had a really big meal earlier and am still stuffed excuse. Also, immediately after surgery I often said I had surgery for a hernia and ulcer (both true...just forgot to mention the sleeve part) and my stomach was not quite right because of it.

Christies idea is great with the hernia. I would just say let your host know beforehand that you won't be eating so they won't get their knickers in a twist over all the cooking! Everyone knows about my surgery but some people haven't and didn't really notice I wasn't eating but in less intimate situations. for others who are concerned that I am missing out I just kill them with the kindness and rave on about how much I love spending time in their company... How lovely is this and all that! Then I concentrate on asking them lots of things about their life and that gets them away from the subject because people just love chatting about themselves and telling you all their things! I think even in situations where people don't know they often are much more interested in their own food than what you are eating :-)

HI Sue, The question was over a year and and half ago. I did go out that evening and just told the host and other guests that I had had some tooth problem, which I actually did have at the time. I have chosen not to tell anyone that I have had bariatric surgery and I prefer it that way.

    LOL
I didn't look at the date and was thinking "why is she on liquids???"
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I also told everyone in that situation that I had weight loss surgery and was darn proud to share it! People don't really care what you eat, they're usually too self-absorbed in their own mind and we're really not that important It's a personal choice, but for me the "truth" always prevailed and I wore the badge of having bariatric surgery like the warrior I became and the advocate for weight loss surgery I am now. Continued success!
