Unhappy Rapid change post op day 4

Hi all, today hit me like a truck. I feel very weak and listless today on day 4 post op. I felt great yesterday with my energy levels and was even planning on an outside walk and maybe a ride from my husband to get a pedicure today. I woke up feeling terrible! I honestly feel like my blood sugar is low with the lightheadedness and being dizzy and shakey (I'm not diabetic or dx as hypoglycemic) I've kept up with the protein levels of 60g and 68oz of water with fluids. Incisions are healing fine, no fever and absolutely no abdominal pain at all. Not even taking Tylenol anymore. Feeling this way really surprised me since I thought I was on the mend up yesterday. Only other issue is constipation but that is working it self out... Maybe two steps forward, one step back? Anyone else go through this in the first week?

It is a bit up and down the first couple of weeks, but you seem to be doing well with the protein and water. You're body is obviously telling you to slow down a bit Do watch your blood sugar -- it is a known issue for some VSG patients, and a bit (like 2 oz of OJ mixed with water, sipped slowly might relieve it -- but check with your doctor first).

I'm on day 3 and have been feeling great other than I keep getting a low grade fever each evening. I hope you feel better tomorrow!

Slow down and get back in bed. I felt dreadful day 4 and spent the morning crying! Go back to bed, trash tv and reading and sleeping. It gets better I promise x

Absolutely normal! It hit me day 9 (only one day when I felt really wiped out) but most folks have a day like yours in the first week. As Stacey says - take it easy!

Yes enjoy the rest and getting to know your new tummy

I was determined to make it thru the procedure and be a champ so I think I had some form of adrenaline propelling me thru the procedure and hospital stay, etc. Then, like you, I hit a wall around day 4 when my body basically said, "Enough." I took 2 naps and still slept for 12 more hours. Any surgery is a real shock to the system and sometimes you just need to be kind to your body. Let it catch up. You'll be fine.

Week one is the worst. But it does get better. How long it takes to bounce back is different from person to person. Just keep sipping, walking, and if you are tired...take a nap. No shame in that. I took little cat naps several times a day that first week.
