    Default Vegetarian diet

    Good morning all!

Was wondering if anyone had any success with a vegetarian diet after surgery? (when pureed, soft and regular food enters the picture)

I ate a lot of meat before and I honestly believe it contributed to my weight gain over the years.

It's so hard to get enough protein from vegetarian sources but I know some people do. At the pureed stage my new tummy wasn't all that interested in meat so I did lots of lentils and beans as well as yogurt. But then I added chicken which has pretty much been the staple of my diet.

What did you consume with the meat? Meat a lone shouldn’t cause weight gain and especially since having surgery. Lean Meat with feel you up quickly and keep you satisfied longer without unnecessary calories.

Veggies and rice/mashed potatoes mostly; and it may not have been the leanest meat you could eat.

Beans and cheeses. Tofu. Milk. Also, I agree with Tamera...the meat probably wasn't the issue. Portion sizes, too much fats, too little exercise. But lean meats will be better and keep you full. And white rice is nutritionally void. And potatoes are a starch and should be more of a moderation. And if you are using a lot of butter on your veggies that isn't good either.

Agreed; however I believe there are studies (don't quote me, i just have a friend on facebook who spews the stuff) that not eating meat is healthier and better for the environment. I think i'll give it a try, it couldn't hurt i suppose.

You also can eat fish, when you only want to avois eating meat.
I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish.
I have no problems with my protein intake.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

There is a movie on Netflix called "What the Health" My hubby and I watched this and decided to try and go vegetarian in February a little over a month before my sleeve. I printed off a bunch of new recipes and look up vegetarian restaurants. So far we have not missed meat, chicken, turkey, etc. at all. We did add seafood back in and have had scallops and shrimp a few times. (We love seafood) Right now I am on my 2 week puree diet which has mostly been pureed soups. So far so good!

I'll have to check that out, thanks! I am going to try as well. I suggest looking at the Gardien meals, I heard they are pretty good!

Hello, I have heard that there are different types of diet plan which can be helpful to provide more energy to the body and helps to maintain weight. I am also planning to get a good diet, which can be helpful for maintaining weight. My friend suggested me to try guide régime (https://www.cellublue.com/fr/product/fit-food-guide/) which is helpful diet.
