    Default Puree Food Stage

    Hi All,
On Monday of this week I went to my first post op visit and everything check out well and I am on to the Puree food stage. For some reason this part of the process seems challenging to me. I have never puree anything. So it has been a learning process. My food processor never leaves the kitchen counter. Today I remembered I could have smooth mashed potatoes in the consistency of a shake. They were so good! I have also been pureeing Amy's Soups (canned) and a few restaurant soups, this has been the easiest for me. I did pick up stuff at the grocery store this week to try a few fruit smoothies. So far so good. I am still amazed that I am not hungry. I am still sip...sip...sipping throughout the day to make sure I get all of my water in. I am looking forward to regular food when the time comes!

Hi, congrats on your surgery. Mine is June 1st. I can't wait till I am done with it as I am really scared. How was your first days after surgery? were you at all hungry or in a lot of pain? I am going to take your idea on the Amy's soups. Wishing you a speedy recovery,

Yes, Amy's soups are great. Really tasty and many are pretty good on protein. I also made a pot of chili with ground turkey that I pureed for me & gave to the rest of the family. I also added cooked chicken to some soups then pureed in order to get more protein. It will go by fast!

    Hi erc70,
I think it is normal to be scared. It is a big step but a step towards being healthy. Just keep reading information and asking questions I found the more I knew and had researched the calmer I became. How exciting June 1st! What a great way to start the summer! I was not in a lot of pain but then again I was on pain medicines (dilaudid)in the hospital. The day of surgery that evening I was up and walking several times. I continued walking until I left the hospital. When I got home I just walked around the house. My belly button is a little tender right now but that is it other than feeling fatigued from time to time. I'm not doing anything strenuous mostly just hanging around the house (I'm retired). I would love to get out and do some gardening but I am following doctor's orders exactly so I do not mess up the procedure. Wishing you the best!

Hi, I never really pureed anything except home made soups as I couldn't stand the thought! You should be able to move on to soft foods shortly and then its more fun! Be careful of the fruit smoothies as they can be high in fruit sugars, although at this stage you can get away with it for a bit :-)

I used a crock pot to make my meats super soft and chewed them up a whole lot. No issues whatsoever.
