Just wanted to say hello... I'm new to the forum. Have done a TON of research into WLS; had my last weigh-in today, and am now just waiting for insurance approval. Hoping to have VSG end of May or sometime in June, depending on how fast insurance approves.

Will be with Dr. Oldham at Baptist in Louisville. Would love to hear from anyone and everyone!

Oooh I should also add that I am mostly vegetarian/clean eating now, and interested in continuing that after surgery, so would especially love to hear from anyone who's doing that post-op. Bit nervous about being able to keep away from artificial sweeteners and chemicals post-op.

Hi Amy and welcome! I'm excited for you too! Have a look for some decent protein powder without artificial sweeteners etc (they do exist but you might have to look around) I was vegetarian for many years but I do eat seafood now. It can be a challenge fitting in enough food after surgery when vegetarian but it can be done! Good research! Congratulations on your decision :-)

Welcome Amy! Once I got my approval I was scheduled for surgery 9 days later....and I could have had it 7 days later but I still had to go in and tell my work I needed to use my leave. Fingers crossed you get your approval and date quickly.

I got my surgery date - 5/30!

I start my pre-op diet on 5/16. It's going to be challenging as I have some out of town guests for the first week of it. Fortunately, for the first week, I do get to still have one small meal every day. The second week, I'm on nothing but protein shakes and the struggle is going to be real, y'all. I have kind of been doing that a bit for the past two weeks, though not religiously, and having a shake for breakfast and lunch both is hard. I know it will be worth it, though, and since I have three weeks off from work, there isn't ANYTHING that's going to keep me from surgery. (Well, anything I can control, anyway.)

It will be a good study in how to distract myself without food. I just hope my relationships survive. LOL.
