Ok, I'm getting frustrated, In the period from my liquids pre operation through the end of week 1 I lost around 31 pounds. The scale dropped during the day. Excitement, joy, all those feelings compensated for not being able to eat anything post operation.
The second week till now, not so much. I have been trapped in a 3 pound range with marginal change. Have not been visiting the all you can eat ice cream buffet or anything sinister. I have tracked my food consumption obsessively with My Fitness Pal, and during this time period my average food consumption has been around 800 calories (peak 1008 on last Saturday, low 420 about a week ago). Normal meals have been four protein shakes, about a half pound of bariatric vitamins (standard issue), and typically a soup, cheese stick, or soft chicken salad in small doses later in the week. Have figured out any "solid-er" food consumption has to stay at or below 1/4 cup volume, or 2 oz, whichever comes first.
I am staying in range on protein, with averages around 115 - 130 (goal was 128 from the doctor), drinking plenty of liquids, very low fat, sugar, carbs, etc. Most things other than protein on my diet on the nutrition charts are at or below 50% of RDA (fats, sugars, etc) and I've tried to be a good dog relative to avoiding anything sugary / sweet / carbonated / etc.
My only sin is that I have not been walking as much as I should, due to low energy, but I am active in the office eight hours a day this week so far and that averages around 6 - 7K steps in a typical day.
I would think at this point of the game, I would be getting mistaken for a hunger protester with these calories, but it does not budge.
From all that I've read, there is a definite second week stoppage in most folks. Is my experience normal, or should I start reaching out for help from the Doctor's office or nutritionist.
Really could use some advice from the experienced folks on the board as to what to do, how this fits with your experience, etc. Remarkably I'm not really hungary like in the past (good) and as I've figured out how my stomach tells me when to stop I'm not having major issues with food consumption / blowback. Things are going well, just not seeing things shift like I thought I would. Thanks for any advice / suggestions.
