Red face 6 Month Post-Op Labs

I had 18 labs done, just as ordered, and every single one was perfect!!!!

My A1C was 4.9%!!! All vitamins, mineral, iron, and calcium perfect!
    Hooray for VGS.

    Hey Annie,
Congratulations, so happy for your great results! I just had 3 month labs done, and A1C was great (although I was never diabetic), iron/ferritin/vitamin levels were all within normal limits.
Im wondering if anyone out there in sleeve land had elevated cholesterol levels post op? Prior to the sleeve I didn't have high cholesterol or high triglycerides. So I'm a little confused as to whats going on.

    Congrats Annie soooo good x
nineohtwou... I had elevated cholesterol before and then it came down so well and then bounced back up again so had to go on statins. I think I have heard that if you have never had high cholesterol you might have a temporary high one after that will settle agin in some cases. You can always have it checked again in 3 months to get a more accurate result.

MY BAD. My cholesterol has been astronomical in the past, leading to a 6 heart stents, 3 strokes, and then a triple open heart bypass (which failed in less than 6 months).

I was on enormously high doses of statins prior to sleeve, as well as a bi-weekly shot (Repatha).

I am now down to a the lowest dose oral statin, and the Repatha shots. That said, my cholesterol went from 263 to 77, with the good going up. My triglycerides went from 295 down to 65.

So my cardiologist and neurologist attribute the success to the sleeve and weight loss.

Thank you one and all for the magnificent encouragement. The world "normal" in any aspect of my life is seldom use. (Grandkids call me Crazy Granny Annie). I think its a good thing.

The wigs are working out well -- they don't appear to be "wiggy" looking, even the 7+ year old one from my last chemo. I went ahead and ruthlessly trimmed the remaining real hair, and I would make a cute tonsured monk. But scarves in the evening if we aren't going any where. Unfortunately, at 65 turning 66 going bald is not quite as cute as when I was in my 30s and 40s and dealing with alopecia + chemos. I'm at the age where people don't want to say anything and imagine the grim reaper over my shoulder.

However, hair loss (temporary) is a minor thing compared to HEALTH! I had 5 years where I could not leave the house, or do many ADLs. I feel absolutely wonderful!

And y'all, you are just the best at knowing the right thing to spur me on! Love ya to the moon, folks!
