    Default Ok, so it's official

I am getting surgery in April 18th.. I did not think it would happen so fast. Last Monday, March 26th, I met with the Psychologist and she approved me for surgery. I have a final consult with the surgeon on April 12th and then bang, 6 days later I'll be on the table. I start my 2 weeks Special K shake diet on Wednesday, April 4th.

I have been extremely emotional and anxious more every day since I got the ok from the psych. I've cried about 4 or 5 times worrying about this surgery, thinking "should I even do it?"

Had anyone else felt like this leading up to their surgery? It's quite frustrating.

I know I'm going to feel so much better after the surgery, but I can't handle these emotions anymore!

Congrats!! Those feelings are completely normal. But when you actually have the surgery, you'll be thinking what was I nervous about? It is life changing for sure, but it's life changing for the good. I'm 6 months out and down 77 lbs. Now that feels great! You will do great, and stick with the Dr.'s plan for pre-op and post-op diets.....when the pre-op diet started for me, I was like "this really is getting real". But the surgery was the best decision I've made! You'll do great!!

Hallo! Congrats for that but yea I think it can be nerve wracking for people. This is probs very normal yes? What do you think it is that is making you so emotional? Is it about having the sleeve ongoing or is it about the actual operation? Big hugs, its a transitional time so run with those emotions I reckon. Maybe see if you can pop back to the psychiatrist to discuss coping methods in the meantime x

I only had 2 weeks from consult to surgery, so I hear ya! Yes, second guessing big decisions is pretty normal. But truly, I'm in my mid 60's and it was an easy-peasy surgery, and it has so been worth it!

This is a great group to ask questions; you'll find lots of support here!

Pugtato, congratulations. I can understand how the short runway would rev up your emotions.

But hang in there. Deep breathing (including deep exhaling ) might help you. It helps me.

Best wishes pugtato! I think it's totally normal to be nervous. I sure was but it's one of the best decisions I've made in my life and I'm 63.

I know that surgery is scary. I was more excited than anything else but I had already had 2 C-sections so I was not too worried. C-sections were a huge cut and the sleeve was laparoscopic. And the sleeve was way less painful and much easier to recover from than my C-sections. You are making a great decision for yourself. Hang in there.

The actual operation, I don't do so well with things like these. Even watching my 600 LB life gets me cringing!
