Hi everyone, my name is socony, and I just had gastric sleeve done on 3/26/2018, I would like to have someone to talk to about all these changes!
Welcome to the board! I just had mine about a week before you, if we can answer any questions or offer support, let us know! The first week is a pretty wild ride, it calms down considerably by mid week 2, and once you can get protein in you're doing much better. Glad you're reaching out to us, it can be scary doing this alone.
My experience was not so much. Mentally, I wanted to eat something, but my stomach had turned on the no vacancy sign. In my first seven days, I think I managed two or three clear liquid protein drinks but those made me very queasy and did not go down. Really, other than sugar free popsicles and crystal light flavored water, I was pretty much not shut down. One thing that both my wife and I marvelled at was how I was going without food and still pretty pleasant (although extremely tired). By week 2, I was ready for something, which predominantly was protein shakes.
Welcome to such a group of kind, helpful and informed folks! I'm still relatively new here (my VGS was 10/5/17). You'll find lots of folks when you post a question. I found the search tool to be a lot of help to find threads that were already posted.
I ran into a major stall on weight loss starting week 2 post op, can read about it under the radar I started, titled "Stuck". But it's pretty normal, your body is recalibrating to much lower calorie intake and sudden weight loss. Try Google guide 3 week stall and you'll see it's quite the topic.
As to seeping incisions, my doctor said some leakage could be normal but if there was any puss or blood that was an issue. May want to check with your doctor to be safe.
Make sure you are getting enough protein and water. If you starve yourself your body will revolt and you will stall. Getting the required 80 grams of protein is key to success. Keep a food journal of everything you eat and drink. I did not have any stalls for the first 6 months or so. There were weeks where I lost very little but the numbers were consistently down. PROTEIN and WATER is the key!
