    Default Incision pains

I just got my surgery 2 days ago and I'm finally at home. And the hardest part are the incision pains. Every time I try to sit up or turn over or get up and walk there was just so much pain in the incisions and the inside. Does anyone have any advice on how to get through that. Because I'm at home by myself and makes it too easy to not get up and walk around.

Very normal to have that kind of pain. It will be worse first week than dramatically get better the next. Sleeve surgery not the kind of surgery you lay around barely walking. You need to be getting up and walking. Totally ok to take a rest or nap but after get up and move. It really helps the pain. Walking was my best friend. By the second week I was walking 5-7miles everyday. Make sure you stay hydrated too, sip frequently to prevent this. Hang in there and work on developing healthy behavior and breaking the old ones.

Have to get up and walk. It will help.

Pain around or inside of incisions is normal. The interior pain is generally related to how many internal sutures the Dr had to put in. I was lucky in that I only had a few internal ones (no idea why some people need more or less) but this is what my Dr. told me after surgery. For me the first 4 days were tough but then it got better.

I walked everyday. I have a large chocolate lab that loves to frolic through the woods behind my house. She would bring me the leash multiple times a day so I walked......

    Hope you're on the mend.

I used a small pillow to push against my stomach whenever I got in and out of bed or sat up. Also used a heating pad on my stomach.

Put pressure on your stomach by pressing a throw pillow against the area whenever you move. it will cause the muscles not ti engage so much and keep the area from moving around to much.

The good news is it won't last long. I also used a heating pad and it helped a lot. And everyone said...the walking and sipping is crucial to healing. Congrats on your surgery. Hang in there.

Congrats on your surgery! The best advice I could give would be to tighten your abdominal muscles (like you were holding in your stomach) when you would stand up, sit up or even roll over in bed. Best of luck to you!

I had surgery on March 27 2018. I am currently feeling no pain in or around my incisions. I know everyone is going to be different. I had my surgery at the University of Minnesota and they had me going for short walks the day of surgery. I also am staying very hydrated. Over the last couple of days I forced myself to get up and walk many short times. I track my steps with a fitness tracker and logged in about 7,500 steps and believe I will have around 8,000 steps logged by the end of the day. I believe moving around early and staying well hydrated helped my recovery.
Everyone is different this so trust what your feeling and don't push it.

It should get better every day. I never used even 1/4 of my pain meds, just found the bottle recently and tossed it.

I had my surgery on March 27th and the first day at home I was really sore but I had also decided on my own I did not need the pain meds they sent me home with. I changed my mind and started taking the pain meds as prescribed and I no longer have any suture or belly pain. I don't take any meds at night just during the day. I am also using a heating pad and it feels SO GOOD! Wishing you the best as you recover!
