    Default Re: Question about grits????

I'm in North Carolina. Yes, they are hominy (like white corn), and the texture is not like oatmeal (love steel cut oats). It's more like gruel...except it tastes good.

I occasionally have 1/4C with low-fat shredded cheddar on it, but my favorite is "Shrimp Grits". Oh, my! It's creamy grits with a topping of Junior Johnson Country Ham and Shrimp with red & green bell peppers.

Mostly people from "up North" don't like grits.

I had wonderful Gouda grits with to die for bananas foster French toast and Conecuh bacon for brunch on Sunday. I took two bites of my French toast and just today sent those leftovers over to my dad. The grits and bacon were long gone though. Ah, I love Sunday brunch so much!

I live on the Gulf Coast on the water, but I don't eat anything that comes out of the water - no shrimp with my grits ever. I like them best with butter, salt, and pepper. Sometimes I like to splurge and have them with gouda, bacon, tomatoes, and green onions.
