Hi everyone. I am excited and scared. I got my surgery date. June 1. My question is, I am having the surgery on June 1st and have a cruise booked for July 16th. Do you think I might be ok by then? Any advice would be so appreciated.
Yes, you'll be fine. You will be eating bugger all though. Take your protein shakes and bars and what not with you and hope the chef is good at soups... actually make friends with one of the chefs and get them to make you soft food delights! I think I was eating scallops by then. It will be lovely if you go with the mindset of relaxing and enjoy all the people and entertainment. Enjoy, relax... think of it as being terribly 1950s and your convalescing. I wish we still had convalesce homes with rose gardens and pots of tea :-)
Welcome! You may want to email the cruise line and let them know you will need a special diet. There is a web site called Cruise Critic and a section called Lose before you Cruise. You can also search on the word "gastric" in the Cruise Critic search field. Others have asked questions and there is information on how the different cruise lines react to the request. My surgery is Tuesday but my cruise is not until November. I plan to email the cruise line and let them know of any specific requirements I may have at that time. Good luck with your procedure!
