Edie, you are so right! Hopefully all the positive thoughts and prayers, and a good medical team will be helping him.

I also agree that perhaps some counseling is in order; its hard to gather perspective when you are int he midst of body issues; our chemsitry changes under stress, causing "brain rain".

Anyway one of them last night was about a blood clot in the portal vein which they thrombolysed ( so this is where your husband is at with blood thinners ). The patient represented in emergency 48 hours later with ongoing pain and a bowel necrosis was discovered. They removed a good portion of the dead intestine. Anyway it was such a flashing light to me concerning your husband, so at risk of sounding really annoying I just want to reiterate that you must get him back in if there is ongoing pain. I would have thought the pain would have been resolved now he has been thrombolysed ( blood thinners), so if it hasn't then I am still bloody suspicious and saying necrosis unless proven otherwise!! And that can kill you. Just the heads up Carla to be on that like a rat up a drainpipe with any continuing pain. Also for new readers, don't freak out... this is a super rare complication.
What a well informed, excellent post. Thank you, Stacey!

I am not stubborn, i refuse to believe that.

Everyone is different on what they can tolerate. Has your husband tried canned chicken? Or even canned turkey chili. Hormel got we through the soft foods phase. I tolerated those more than other things aside from the less dense fishes. All fresh chicken and beef was very difficult to digest for me post-op.

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been away for several weeks trying to take care of my husbands issues. I see that many of you have updated your photos and all of ya'll look amazing! Congrats to all of you! As of now, we've got the clot issue taken care of. He's been on clot busting injections and blood thinners he takes at night. All of his doctors said that he's doing great! He had to be cleared by three separate drs to get the all clear. This has not been easy for either one of us, him especially. I want to thank each one of ya'll for all of your encouragement and love ya'll have sent our way. Lord knows we've needed them. He's lost 62 pounds and no longer has to buy his jeans in the big and tall section of the store and that made him extremely happy! He's on solids as of Easter morning and he's been navigating the waters on what kinds of foods he can tolerate. His mood is starting to stabilize because he's feeling better. He gets upset if a new food isn't agreeing with him but that's so much better than falling in the floor from pain from the blood clot. Thank ya'll so much for everything. Ya'll have been such a huge support to me when I couldn't talk to anyone else about this. I wish I could put my arms around each one of ya'll with a huge hug of love. Thanks so much!

I must say my nerves are shot after this ordeal with him. I do shake at times and jump at the slightest noise. Didn't do that before. Forgot to mention that.
