    Default It's getting REAL

    Greetings....

I've just scheduled my Surgery today! I need to wrap up some paperwork and get a flight... and already my nerves have kicked up. 37 days until my surgery... 8-10 pre op on the horizon... wow.. I'll bet everyone on here can imagine the emotions.. they run the gamut, don't they?
It's getting real and I'm questioning everything!!

    Sleepless tonight

Congratulations! I think I was fortunate to have a first appointment 9/20 and then surgery 10/05, so just 2 weeks which was pre op diet before surgery. But once I have a firm date or time (or goal) I am better!

    You'll do wonderfully!

I was told to get up and walk on my 5 hour flight, every hour to avoid blood clots. So I did manage to do that. When the pre-op diet started...that's when I knew things were gonna get real. But 5+ months in and 74 lbs down! So ya, I don't regret the surgery for one moment. Sometimes it's a pain that you can't eat like you used to...and all foods take patience with me (I can never overeat...ouch!) but that comes with the territory and the benefits certainly outweigh the inconveniences. Feels so great to be a normal weight! I went for surgery to Mexico alone. You will do great!!

You have done an amazing job for yourself and are so supportive... I feel like this is a celebration of life in the living..i want to keep that positivity and celebrate each forward motion made. Did you have to fly home? if so, was it difficult for you? any troubles?

Yes, I had to fly home. I flew home 4 days after the surgery. I was advised to walk every hour to avoid blood clots. For that reason I requested an aisle seat. Also, when they offer pre-boarding if you need help or have children, I took that. I was tired, and weak still being I just had surgery, so I told them that I just had surgery so needed to pre-board. That helped so I didn't have to wait in line up's. Because the surgery is all so many baby steps, and in the very beginning you are still on pain meds, and you are still weak, but I must say by the time it was ready for me to come home - I was 100% ready. I wasn't in any extreme pain (from any of my surgery actually, 1st day was rough and so, I was really ready to fly home! Where are you having your surgery done?

I am probably in the more minority but I was predominantly excited about my surgery. I had to go through the whole insurance process. It took time. So when it was finally over I was sooooo ready. And to top it off, when I got my approval I had surgery just 9 days later. I only got nervous that morning. But just a little. This surgery is amazing. I am sooooooo glad that I did it!

Hi Christie! I'm so freaking excited, too!! I have so many Questions and it's just over a month away!
I'm starting to stock up on the pre and post op supplies I need.. I am probably older than you are but, I feel like a kid inside! I'm looking forward to all the positive things to come.. :-) Soon, I'm opening a coffee shop in my neighborhood and want to incorporate bariatric friendly foods - High protein, low carb. Vegetarian. Good times.. moving towards the big picture goal!
