    Default Gastric Sleeve Diet

    Hi

I am new here. I am thinking about having the gastric sleeve. I am unsure whether I will be able to handle the surgery as well as the diet. I am contemplating it because of medical problems. Can anyone comment on how they were able to follow the diet? Was it easy or difficult to stick with it after the surgery?

    Thanks.

It's a good question. I'm older than lots of folks on here (65). I gained a lot with medications, and then felt worse, got sicker, etc.
I had VGS 10/5/17. I was able to get off 13 of 17 meds and feel like my old self.
My blood sugar is normal, cholsterol normal, BP normal, all blood work normal. Lots of energy.
I felt like this was my last chance to enjoy life and do things. Because it was self-pay and a very big 'nvestment" I went into.it quite determinedly. Staying on a healthy eaten ng schedule isn't impossible, and after the first 3 months, hitting nutrition goals, vs calorie goal seems doable.

Lots of good people and advice here. BEST decision I've made and no regrets.

The pre op diet is a bit harder but doable since it is short term. And your pre op will depend on your surgeon. Post op it is easy peasy. You really don't have much appetite.
