    Default Diet

    Good evening ladies and gentlemen

I am having a hard time using this forum, that’s why I’m hardly ever here. Even for me to be able to post this message took almost half an hour to figure it out. Anyway, I am scheduled for surgery April 30th 2018 with Dr. Mario Almanza. I’ve been put on a 10 day diet, the first 7 days I have to have high protein and low carbs, then the last 3 days it’s strictly liquid diet. Now as far as the 7 days go, I am clueless as to what to eat exactly. Can someone please provide me with info on the kind of foods I can eat and also, if there’s anyone who’s had the surgery already and doesn’t mind providing me with their email address, i’d really appreciate that. Thank you in advance 🙏🏾

when you start your 7 day pre-op diet you will have two meals that a protein shake than one meal using chicken, fish, lean beef and a side of veggies or small dinner salad with italian dressing or olive oil and balsalmic. Good luck. You picked an outstanding doctor and team. Best decision I ever made

Thank you so much Tamera, I really appreciate this. You just made this so much easier for me. Just one more question, how did you prepare your meats, did you grill, fry or boil? And also, which protein shake did you use? Because most of the ones I see have sugar in them.

Your Welcome Iggy, I really like Premeir protein shakes, 160cal, 1 or 2 gms of Sugar,30gmas of protein. I like the chocolate and occasionally the Carmel. Make sure you don’t buy to much for after; your taste buds may change and the flavors you like now may not be what you like after. You can season the meats with seasonings or herbs you like. Just no sugar and watch sodium. No marinades or sauces like barbecue because of the sugar. You can grill/barbecue or bake just no fried foods. This is the time to focus and start to reprogram your brain. If Your tempted to eat when you shouldn’t or eat something you shouldn’t try going for a walk or something that is distracting. Also helps to throw away all the junk you shouldn’t be eating. I found it easier to not have bad food in the kitchen. I’m happy to answer any questions. This is an amazing journey and one that saved my life. The area around the hotel and hospital is nice and safe to walk all around. The hotel has a beautiful pool with really nice lounge chairs and tables and chairs. Really nice to sit out there. Also enjoyed walking all around the area.

It is my pleasure. Thank you for your kind words. I remember when I was just starting this process and there were wonderful people who helped me and I found it very helpful to see their before and after pics too. I would like everyone who is overweight to conquer obesity and have another chance at living the life they really want. I found it so freeing too. I don’t know if you have health issues from your weight like I did. I don’t have diabetes, high Blood Pressure and plus, sleep apnea, off 7 meds, high cholesterol panel, reduced pain gained a lot of flexibility and energy.
If you don’t mind me asking what is your current weight?

Hello again Tamera, I think I might have sleep apnea, but I haven’t been diagnosed yet. I’ve noticed that I run out of breath a lot these days, I breath heavily and I’ve also noticed that I snore a bit. Anyway, I was like 192-195 for about a year now, but the last time I went to the doctor which was in January of this year, I weighed 225. Bare in mind that, they weighed me like really late in the day, I had already had 2 meals by that time, so I don’t know if i’m really 225 or of that was because of the food. I haven’t weighed myself since then, simply because I was too traumatized.

Sounds like you got lots of great advice. I have a lot of good nutritional paperwork from my surgeon so if you want to send me a private message with your email I can send the paperwork to you.

I sent pics of the hotel and area and me with Dr A. You will get a lot of great info from Dr A and step by step instructions on your post op diet. Weightloss Agents should be sending you a lot of good info too. Well you will be at a heathy weight in no time starting out at your weight. Wish I hadn’t stayed in denial so long but we all come to a realization and ready to make lifestyle changes st different times. HW was 288 and after making changes 5 weeks before pre op diet 268. Your breathing and snoring should hopefully completely go away with weightloss. Good you started now before you develope other issues.
