Still freaking out about protein drinks!!!

My sleeve will be 3/27. I have lost about 15 lbs on my own just eating very small non carb meals in the last several weeks. But soon I will have to start the protein and I just cannot get them down!!!! Finally found some unflavored which I haven't tried yet. My question is has anyone found any drinks or powders without : 1. artificial sweeteners 2. stevia 3. thickeners (without all 3 items) ?????

Following surgery the only protein drink I could stomach was Nectar protein drinks. I ordered them from Amazon. I'm not a fan of sweet drinks but other than the sweetness they stayed down and did their job so I just drank them. After a couple of months post surgery I was able to drink the Premier (vanilla only) and the GNC Go Lean protein drinks. Both ready to drink in premier and GNC. I couldn't do the powder.

GNC has some shakes that have 25G protein, 170 calories, and have a vanilla bean flavor that reminds me of my favorite ice cream. Was pleasantly surprised. You may want to play around with consistency -- maybe blend powdered drinks with powdered peanut butter for different flavor and crushed ice to make them have a different consistency. A trick I used to do while on a medically supervised diet program (HMR) was to mix a packet of powdered protein with a little bit of ice water and make a "pudding".

But I do feel you. My wife has tried shakes and has yet to find one that she can stand.

I like Quest and Isolicious protein powders and I mix them with Almond milk. You could add some sugar free chocolate syrup or use flavored extracts. I always blend them instead of shaking them up. I add ice once I have blended them and blend again to crush the ice. Hope this helps!

I get mine from Walmart. Premier protein shake is 30 grams of protein,1 sugar, 160 calories, and the flavor is good. It was the only one I could keep down. My kids drink them as well.

Premier protein is my favorite. I had a hard time till I discovered them.

Oh gawd I feel ya!! I went through so many and ended up with isowhey. Try small quantities first, don't be like me and buy sacks!!! I could have bought a very nice dress instead!!!!

Did you try my trick? Go to the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and buy ONE of everything that looks like you might like. Then when you find something, buy it in bulk.

I liked the orange flavor Isopure diluted with a lot of ice. Their flavors are a bit odd, but by diluting them a little you are still getting all the protein and more liquid!

Now after over 4 years I'm a huge Premier Protein fan. I use it as coffee cream in the morning and drink the rest as a snack. I like vanilla or carmel.

I also liked the powder from Walmart that you mix with skim milk or water, typically in a blender with ice.

If you absolutely will not drink any of the zillions of protein drinks/powders/whatever out there, cancel your surgery.

The best PROTIEN shake for me is body fortress brand that you can buy at Walmart. My favorite is the peanut butter cup. All of the flavors are fantastic and the best tasting I’ve had of all PROTIEN shakes. Just stay away from the body fortress isolate because it doesn’t mix very well and muds up in the bottom. The regular body fortress whey PROTIEN is the way to go. And I’m sorry about typing PROTIEN in all caps, my phone does that on its own and I can’t make it stop. Lol

Yes! I agree! Fairlife milk products are the best. When both my husband and I couldn’t stand PROTIEN shakes at first we drank fair life milk. Much more Protien and less sugars and calories as regular milk. Even if you don’t get fair life core PROTIEN shakes at least try the fair life milk.
