I have a desk job. Luckily I can find time to walk as much as I want during the day, but I don't have to get up and do anything. So my plan is to take 1 full week off. The 2nd week, I plan to work from home. I doubt I'd do 8 hours in one sitting, but I'm hoping to do 4-5 hours per day for a week at home. The 3rd week I intend to go to the office. Worst case I can find someone to carpool with.
I have plenty of banked sick time, so if I had to take two or three sick weeks and 1 work from home week I could, but i'm hoping that's not necessary.

Sounds like a good plan. BTW, I don't think you'll have any problem driving. I was driving after 3 days without problem. Just bend carefully getting in and out of the car.

I'll be out of the office for 3 weeks, but i'll be working hopefully from home. My surgery is on a Wednesday, so I was thinking of taking Wednesday to Wednesday off, then starting Thursday I'd work from home part time. So really, only 1 full week off. Of course, i'll have to get permission from my doc. Hopefully he goes for working from home Best of luck!

I found the same question at another board.
it turned out, that most of the people, that went back to work after two or three weeks, wished they had taken more time off.
    Just a thought...
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I took 6 weeks off and I was soooooo exhausted despite being really fit and having already lost 40kg. I totally took to my bed heaps! The exhaustion thing was the only bad experience I've had but I also did need iron infusions and what not so I might just be different. After 6 weeks I was fine. But yes I needed the 6 weeks and everyone is different. if you'd asked me before surgery I would have said ahhhhh I could probs go back to work in 2 days. Nope. :-)
Mind you I did go back to uni classes at week 3 for a couple of days a week. Anyway I was just tired. Its normal. I embraced it in the end after whinging a lot!
