I am so Happy !

I am in the hospital, I arrived yesterday.
I have had all my tests and I have just seen my anaesthetist, he confirmed I can have the surgery today.
He asked me to look at his notice board and said 'Do you recognise this person' Yes it was just possible to recognise the guy in the photo as the anaesthetist,60 kg lighter in person and looking 10 -15 years younger and happy !
He had weight loss surgery 18 months ago with my surgeon.
He went on to say you can ask me anything.
The main advice he gave me was it will happen in stages, you will love how you feel and you don't tell your body numbers to loose this week or next week. It looses in steps and start's to show results by moving and pausing all the time..

My question was 'Do you know of any patient who has not been successful? '
He answered 'just 2 out of 1988 patients, and the reason 1 became or was an alcoholic...... the second drank the juice from baklava every day'
(The juice from baklava is sugar/honey syrup)

Everyone else went on to loose weight. He thinks I will be down to about 60 kg or 55kg .
So wish me Luck.....

I noticed you are from the UK where abouts? I am originally from Sheffield, then lived in London & Essex for 30 years.
I live in Turkey now and I am having surgery in Turkey.
Your message means a lot to me as only my hubby knows about my surgery.

Do you know I have sat here waiting to go and typed out Kg to stone to pounds for every kilo I intend to loose.
I can't believe you have mentioned it because it has helped me to pass the time away.
Well sorry for any typo's using ipad not my normal mac.
They have just come to put my gown on and so it''s time.

I live close to where you are from, Leeds. I am originally from SA, hence the use of Kg. The only people who know that I am having the operation are my husband, children and one friend who knows what I have been through trying to lose weight. I might tell my sister after my operation but that would be it. I intend telling people if they ask how I have lost weight, by saying I have a very restrictive diet. Once again good luck and chat after the surgery.

What a fortunate happenstance to have an anesthesiologist who'd been sleeved.

His experience has been mine, too -- I've lost 100+ pounds after VSG surgery 3.5 years ago and kept it ALL off!

As a result, my life today is a brazillion times better than it was pre-op.

Awesome advice - this is consistent with the advise my surgeon told me in my last check-up.

Hope your surgery went well Pudsley! And how great to have gotten to speak with your anesthesiologist about being sleeved. I lived in Turkey when I was young for 2 years and loved it there (from 1980-82). The last time I went to turkey was back in 2000. Too long ago.

Hi Everyone,

So I have my new sleeve.
The Surgery went very well and I am now nearly 2 weeks into my new sleeve.

To be honest I no trouble with the surgery.
I had Acid Reflux non stop until yesterday, it seems all the medication was really giving me a hard time and yes the Fatigue!

Oh my.... I knew it would turn a corner and it did, today I felt different in the sense of a little more alert and less tired and finally hardly any acid.

I have lost 4.5 Kg which is super. But I don't know how to change my ladder for my weight loss I am asking how you do it please.
