I told most of my friends that I had a procedure to correct a hiatus hernia that was causing acid reflux, which was partly true. Every time I ate, the acid subdued. This was one of my principle reasons why I started to gain weight. It went undiagnosed for a very long time. In fact it wasn't until I had the endoscopy exam before my sleeve it showed up. I was in two minds to let the surgeon repair the hernia and see if I would improve, or continue with the plan to get sleeved. I asked my surgeon's opinion and also an independent gastroenterologist for her opinion, they both said I should have the sleeve.
So anyway, as far as my most of my friends think, I had a hernia repair which has reduced my appetite and I've been on a very strict diet ever since as it needs to heal.
