I知 really having a hard time trying to consume all of the liquid, what am I doing wrong
It's not easy. I started by filling a pitcher and then pouring water into small medicine cups and getting it down ounce by ounce. Warm liquids worked better for me and I found ginger and mint herbal tea were soothing. I also ate sugar free popsicles just to keep getting in fluid. Eventually it gets easier but it takes time.
Remember that all liquids count towards your liquid/water goal. They are not separate from each other. Your count should be fluid ounces and protein grams at this phase. Your number one priority being liquids as you do not want to get dehydrated. It is rough in the beginning. Keep trying your best. I know I was not consistently hitting both protein and water goals for about a month or two. Hang in there. Be sure you are taking your vitamins.
Hi Dear
i was in excatly the same situation as yours. I posted my vent here and recieved a ton of support and recommendations.
As I had my vgs a day after yours, we are in week two post op. I started to take yogurt this week but definitely made it more liquidy. I also added Almond milk to my diet and made almond milk, fresh strawberries plus scoop of vanilla protein powder. It tasted delicious. It definitely filled me up. I was not able to consume 8 oz in one sitting so I just took my time sipping for couple of hours.
Also, try adding non-sweetened coconut water. It has been helping me keep hydrated.
Hope it helps. Hang in buddy. Worst is behind us.
Agreeing with Dale; make sure you are not dehydrating. sraebaer tipped me to Premier protein (liquid) which has 30 grams of protein in 11 ounces; I can add it to my decaf coffee or tea; the vanilla makes a latte; the chocolate a nice mocha flavor, and I have yet to try the carmel. That covers protein and liquids in one gulp (pun intended).
