    Default Protein Happy People

    Hi and Good Morning!

I just got home from my walk.. a short one today 30 mins 1.5 miles.. 3000+steps and I'm goaling for 8000-10,000 steps a day. I don't always make it but, some days I do so much more. My legs cramp in the calves I push thru. I've dropped some weight in the last 3 weeks but am stalling. I think maybe from muscle being dense, etc... Also Protein intake is well over 60 per day.. some days it is double that. Is there a problem of getting too much protein? I see the nutritionist in 3 weeks.. and I will surely ask. My pre op Sleeve Doc asked me to do 60/60/60 exercise/Protein/water everyday. We didn't talk about excesses in those categories. Keeping my Carbs under... not easy NOT EASY!!! LOL..'

Has anyone had an intake of more than the recommended intake of Protein and Water? I have not found a support group in my area yet...so, I am so grateful for any feedback you may have time to offer!

    Have a beautiful weekend!

    B Leeve

Congratulations! You're doing great. You've hit the legendary 3 week stall. Happens to many/most of us. Just hang in there and let your body catch up to all the changes. Lots of people on this forum have much higher protein & water intake. I don't see your surgery date on your ticker but if you are just 3 weeks out I assume you're not getting all that protein from "real" food. Most doctors will advise you to move off protein shakes and start increasing protein from food. It's hard to get in enough food to keep your protein that high in the early days so don't worry about it. At the food stage you fill up so quickly that you will do well to get in enough protein. Only thing I'd add is that there is some debate about how low to keep your carbs. Some people (including my nutritionist) advise to start adding in good carbs in order to keep your weight loss moving. But how much is enough is up for debate. You have to find what is best for you. Talk to your doctor/nutritionist about what works for you.

Thank you, Dale for your response! As much as it sucks to stall, its reassuring that it's the new normal.. stalling and getting unstuck. The Carb limits are really confusing...so, my nutritionist is in for an long conversation. I've not set my date. I've had one initial private meeting with the surgeon and nutritionist is next... in about 6 month or so, I begin my testing with the GP - all the requirements. I'm trying to pace this out with my insurance.. since they are asking for a 1 year wait period. I really am frustrated with the year wait. I think its counter-productive to the whole process. I see that some people didn't have to wait that long at all. I'd like to change to that insurance! Any suggestions? LOL. Our health care system is a mystery. Thank you for your insight. Congratulations on your journey! It looks like you stats are really moving!! Your are a bit more than 3 months out.. wow! impressive!!! well, have a great day... I'm headed out to a nature path by the water... hopefully, not too many snakes out today... wearing boots for sure!

Oh, I was confused. I thought you had already had surgery. Not sure anything I said applies but hang in there!

Wow. A year long wait to get your surgery through insurance? That seems excessive. If I had to wait a year I think I would have definitely gone to Mexico.
