Default What do I bring for surgery day

I’m a week out from surgery day in Mexico and was needing help with what should I pack? My friend is coming along and having surgery as well so we will be staying at the hospital the entire stay.

Heating pad is a must have , gas x strips and slippers and comfortable clothes. They will make you very comfortable in the hospital . The dr and nurses are great.

Biotene spray for dry mouth immediately after surgery before you can drink. Cellphone charger & long cord.

I brought sun dresses, and 1 pair of sweats for the plane home, Biotene spray is a MUST! Easy slip on shoes/or sandals, wound wash, gas x chewables since the strips are no longer made in Canada.

Forget the Gas-X it is not for the kind of gas you will have. You will have air pumped into your body in order to perform the surgery. Gas-X is for intestinal gas. But people keep talking about it! Walking will help with the kind of gas you will be experiencing.

All I needed was chapstick and comfy clothes.

Be sure to get up and walk around on the plane on the way home when you can to prevent blood clots.

    Good luck!

Hi. Quick question, in what way did the heating pad help? I am limited on space to bring things but will absolutely made room if it helps out. Thanks!

You will feel achy so the heating pad can be your best friend post op. As for gas x strips/chewables...as Sraerbaer said they are not for the type of gas you will have post op. The post op gas is from the surgery and gas x will NOT help with that. Total myth. You may need antacids for sour stomach but not gas x. I would go for minimal. Comfy clothes, slip on shoes, toiletries, phone, charger, heating pad, chapstick, and possibly a magazine or two. You really do not need much. I slept on and off a lot the first week. I only stayed 1 night in the hotel and I was home, though.
