Problems with acid reflux - sleeve? Or bypass?

Hi All,
I am awaiting my procedure and my doc said I can either go with the sleeve procedure OR the Bypass. I have had a few issues with Acid Reflux in the past and just take a Pepsid and try not to eat late or cut down on spicy foods. It is my understanding with Bypass you do not have the risk of Reflux but have a much greater dumping risk. I am just wondering what your thoughts are on this. Do a lot of folks have issues with Acid Reflux that have the sleeve? Thanks

I had issues prior to surgery and just following. Its something you need to speak with your doc about since everyone is different.

I'm going through the same thing right now; I have an endoscopy on Friday to see any damage acid has created to determine whether or not I will get the bypass/sleeve.

Honestly, my reflux is so bad sometimes it gives me hiccups 2 straight days. I'd rather deal with dumping syndrome than worsening reflux..

With the bypass you are correct, the reflux chances to go down significantly.

I had reflux issues before being sleeved. I also had my hiatal hernia repaired with my sleeve surgery. I had a few months of needing to take Pepcid post op. I am fine now and only get heartburn occasionally. I did a lot of research and did not want the bypass. I know some people can have issues with acid reflux post op and for most it will go away sooner or later. Only a handful have issues that last.

I suffer from gastric reflux and after my sleeve it has been up and down.
Its starting to settle now but I still take antacid medication from the doctor.
It depends what I eat. Ther are no hassles with the protein shakes but trying some meat or carbs
really make it play up.
I don't regret having the sleeve done though. This will get better but my weight gain was getting beyond a joke.
I love the new me so far. Can't wait to lose more.
