Default My Journy to WLS Has Begun. . . Again

    Hi everyone,
I originally posted about starting the process of WLS a year ago at the Rockwood Clinic in Spokane WA. Meanwhile, my GP had a nurse call me that had a problematic bypass surgery years ago. She got me all upset and so I postponed it all and attended a year long Diabetes Prevention Program at the local hospital. It was very educational, gave me a good idea of how to prevent diabetes, got me working out and yet, I basically failed the weight loss part of it. I struggled with the same 4-8 lbs all year. So now after talking to a relative who is 6 months or more into her Gastric Sleeve journey and so happy with it I've started the process again. BTW, I am now diabetic (not pre diabetic) and on Metformin. This time, I'm in my last year of ability to have the procedure, 65, on medicare and able to have it in my state. My doctor gave in and sent a referral and medical records. I'm attending the seminar Feb. 27, next week. Also I have appointments for the surgeon consult and the psych consult in March. I'm on the way. I've read books, read blogs, watched youtube videos by patients and gastric surgeons. I understand it won't be easy but its not easy now. I'm so tired of being fat, hurting joints when I try to work out, and the diabetes? I've seen what that brings. I feel in my gut and heart, this thing is going to happen this time. I have had this weight battle since I was a young child. Even if I have to continue seeing a psychologist after, I will do it.

Post Seminar Update: Now I'm in a quandary. The surgeon speaking at the seminar stated that if you have diabetes, the bypass gives you a better chance of reversing that. Plus he states a better chance of not regaining weight a few years out. He does admit that there has been more years of data history for bypass than sleeve and he will do what we want. Another figure he gave was an average of 67% of excess weight loss for bypass vs 47% for sleeve. I've been pretty steadfast on the sleeve procedure but I really do want to reverse the diabetes. I started Metformin at the beginning of the year. Any opinions?
    Reason: New information

you are going to feel so much better!! I've heard of so many people not having pain, not having diabetes, not needing certain meds etc..
You might have some "what did I do?!" moments, and you might not.
sounds like you know what to expect and the positive outweighs any negatives
    sleeved 12/30/14 @255lbs Goal 140lbs
    3/3/15- 208lbs 6/14/15- 163lbs
    lost 92lbs in 1st 6mo
    9/10/15- 139 1/5/2016 - 128lbs
    lost 128lbs in 1 year
    4/4/16 - 123lbs 7/4/16 - 129lbs 12/3/16- 130
    still 128lb loss@2 year mark-11lbs below goal
gained 13lbs by 3 year mark weighing 142lbs
Gained up to 158 by 3 years 3 months!
    3.5 years back to 142
    hoping to stay between 140lbs-145lbs
4 years hanging in between 145 and 150
5 year mark! ugh! Up to 160! Time to get back track!
