could you ask your surgeon about adding some fiber to your shakes to help you feel full?
I felt the exact same way. I was starving all the time it felt. I healed really well & really fast so it made it easier to get in more solid foods which helped A LOT. I did scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, tuna with mayo, even a little fruit. I just made sure I chewed each bite really well & I had no problems a all. Everyone is different so listen to your body. Nothing is as hard as those first few weeks I promise. You can do this. It gets better. A lot better. I had mine December 6th. Talk to your doctor first though. I talked to mine and he said go slow and small and see how I feel. You have to pay close attention to your body. Feel better!
First of all you can change your attitude, you should be super excited to be on your way to a healthy, happy, smaller life!
Sleep all you can. You will feel better every day, I promise. Now concentrate on meeting your liquid and protein requirements. Are you getting in 64 ounces of liquid a day? Are you meeting your protein gram minimum? If you do you'll start getting your strength back and feel better. I kept a journal in the beginning to be sure I was drinking enough and getting in my protein.
I was on liquids for 2 weeks after surgery, basically protein drinks. I couldn't start soft foods like eggs until the third week. Did your doctor say you could have food 4 days after surgery? All doctors are different, but that seems early for eggs. It's only been 4 days since they cut out most of your stomach.
Maybe therapy would help wrap your mind around this. I know I can't just tell someone to be happy or positive, but I know it works. Good luck!
Hey everyone
Week two post op update
Feeling much better. Started taking yogurt and proetim shkes with fresh fruits (very liquidy kind). Keeps me full
Also added jello
Cant wait for week three where I know I can start feeling a ton better.
Thank you to each one of you! Everyone’s advise and recommendations helped with week one struggles.
Oh be cautious and follow whatever your surgeon has advised, even if its hard. Gastric motility (normal to start back up after anesthesia) mimics hunger pains; head hunger is a different issue.
I did liquids for 2 weeks, puree for 2 weeks, and then smashed. Finally at 8 weeks went to solids, trying one at a time to be sure it was okay.
Just be careful! The liquid protein really is critical in maintaining loss of fat vs muscle and lessening any hair loss!
