    Default The struggle of change

I went to they gym this morning. It is my day off so I put more time in there to ensure I get my steps and exercise in. I love the gym. It makes me happy. I'm working really hard to get into shape and tighten up my skin.

So my husband calls me and wants to know where I am. I tell him that I did 1:05 on the treadmill, 20 minutes on the elliptical and 35 minutes on the recumbent bike. Here comes the blow to my happy day... He says I'm doing to much and I'm nothing but skin and bones (I'm not btw). Then he adds I'm starting to look unhealthy.

I know it is just HIS insecurities talking. He has never seen me this this small. He isn't use to it because it has happened to fast. I know it will get better but it will take time.

Just needed to vent and to say change is hard on the ones we love when they don't know how to cope with it. Hope you all have a great day. Thank you all for your support and love!

Don't let that get you down. Maybe invite him to join you at the gym so he can see the amount of dedication you are putting into this. You look amazing and he will come around. My husband enjoys squeezing my "fat" so I am sure he will be the same way for awhile but I am hoping to get him involved and get him to make all healthy choices with me.

He has started to come with me and that was a huge hurdle! He has severe COPD and is disabled because of it. I'm over the moon with joy when he comes with me. He needs it more than I do. It will take time I know just be aware that it happens.

I think change is really hard for people Cody but you are such a loving positive person I think you will get the old fella through this. It is sometimes hard to come from a place of love when we feel upset by peoples words, but I know you will because that is just your nature. It's a transitional period isn't it? It takes time for everyone to get used to it. You're doing great and leading by example.
Well done on the gym stuff darls, you're a legend. Are you going to do any classes? I used to like classes like body pump with weights and loud music., they are fun. Wish I was nearby to do classes so we could die laughing, it's always heaps of fun!
It's hard not to take things to heart but keep going beautiful Cody, he will catch up. He is also probably super proud of you really, he is just adjusting... I hear men are like this ;-)
    Much love xxx

Wow. That's quite a workout. IMHO, men have a harder time with change than women. My husband will very openly say he doesn't like change. And when I make changes to our routine, etc. I've learned that I need to give him some time to absorb it all. You look terrific and your husband must be super proud of you. But he may also be worried he's losing you.... Would he be willing to go to counseling with you? After all, you're a whole different person (well, half the person) you were a year ago. That must be scary in ways he may not even understand. And you deserve to be supported. Glad you can vent here. All I can say is you are AMAZING!!!

Thanks Dale! He really is proud of how far I've come. It is just the change he is having a hard time dealing with. I really wish he would do counselling but that won't happen. I'm working hard to get him to the gym with me. Slowly trying to change his mind about it. He is so dang stubborn! It is just going to take time.

I love that I can vent here and people understand! Y'all are amazing. Thank you again Dale for the love and support!

Congrats on a great day at the gym and it's good that you notice it takes other people time to adjust to our new selves just as much as it takes us time to adjust.

My hubby had told me I was too thin as well. I was like tough. Then he got on board and started weight training with me. We are on a routine. We both have gotten a lot more toned and stronger. I can say the strength training has done more for the appearance of my skin and for my self esteem than the cardio did. Don't get me wrong. I still make sure I get my steps in and run but my focus now is definitely the strength training. The improvement in my legs/butt is amazing. They were my worse areas. My arms look great. No loose skin whatsoever. I do agree it is insecurities. They are just not used to seeing us small. And they knew they loved us big so they wonder why we want to be thin. I remember when I told my husband I had a consultation and had decided to do this. (He had no idea I had even scheduled a consult.) He said if I was doing this for him not to because he loved me as I was. I told him I was doing it for me. I shocked myself when I blurted that out.
