Home Alone after surgery???

After your Gastric Sleeve were you comfortable being home alone or do you feel you needed assistance? My thought is you may need assistance day one and two. Thanks for your input.

I'm not sure you really need help. You just sip water and sleep. I'm the kind of person who prefers to be left alone when I'm not feeling 100% so I just asked my husband to go about his business and leave me alone. But I always knew I could ask for help if I needed it.

I'm the same way when I really do not feel well I prefer to be left alone and no fussing. Thanks for the feedback.

You may need to have someone with you for a day or two. See what your doctor/hospital suggest.

I needed no help whatsoever after surgery. I came home and the next morning my husband was off on a three day business trip, at my insistence. I did laundry and all other household activities. (No children at home, Ill add) Easy, no pain meds.....I enjoyed my time alone. Good luck!

Oh wow this is a biggie for me. I think anyone who has had sleeve needs some kind of assistance for the first week! I needed it for two weeks myself. I had a rough start. My husband was sleeved five days ago and he’s a very big tough man and he needed help. He still does because he’s so weak (not even a week out yet). So yes I agree. Someone should be with you after sleeve surgery because you’re so give out from surgery and limited diet.

My hubby plans on being home for a few days after the procedure. He is flexible so he can stay longer if I need him. I know we are all different what our needs will be after the procedure. It is great to hear from you all on what your experiences have been to gage we are planning correctly. Thank you

Yes. Take at least a week off. You and him both. You’ll need him most def!

My partner had to fly to Boston 4 days after my surgery but I am really lucky that my in laws live downstairs so Nan popped up and down the stairs constantly to check on me. That said I was fine and only needed to rest and sip. It was just nice to know there was someone checking in on me often. I didn't need any help with anything but for everyone that will be different. What do you feel? If you feel you need someone there then you might. It's all about love and reassurance and your bed and sipping at that stage. Best wishes.

I was pretty much by myself. My mom lives with me but she’s disabled. I was able to do everything for myself without issues.
Luckily, the grocery store down the street from me offers grocery delivery and the guy was nice enough to put them away for me. That was a big life saver!

My husband came down with the flu, the day of my surgery. I came home the next day. He picked me up and I made him go to urgent care after. He was down for the count. I have a child that I also cared for after. You'll be fine, just slower moving, but you can pretty much do whatever!

I had surgery on a Thursday. Went home on Friday. Hubby was with me and also on the weekend. He went back to work on Monday and I had no issues being alone. As stated above, I spent most of the first week sipping, walking, and napping.
