    Default Vitamins expenses

Are the vitamins you need to purchase afterwards very expensive? Are there other expenses afterwards that I need to plan for?

Hi, if you you have a prescription plan that will cover Nascobal ( nasal B12 spray) it comes with a multi, calcium and iron tables/chewable at no additional cost. Ask you doc if he prescribe for you.

Ask your doctor's office to let you know if there are vitamin brands they recommend and what other supplements you'll need. You need special bariatric vitamins which are a bit pricier than others but you have to compare bc some need 2/day and some don't include iron or enough B12 so you have to add the cost of those supplements. And you generally need additional calcium. It takes some comparing. Also I bought a brand before surgery that was a chewable and I finally just gave up because it made me gag. Try to get samples to see what you like before you invest in a whole bottle.

The only other cost I can think of is protein powder or drinks. Again, try a sample. Many of us have protein powder bottles with only a small amount used because we couldn't stand the taste post op.

I don't find the vitamins too expensive. I often buy mine from Walmart. And with the money I save on food I don't think I am spending more.

For the first month or so you need chewables. Ask your Dr what you will need. You can shop around. I found some were cheaper on jet.com
