After surgery

Hi All,

I haven’t had the surgery but my partner has.

I’d like to no from any of you what were you like to your loved ones when you had the surgery and was back home settling in to your new way of eating?

What has made me want to join this group is there is no follow up care like to talk about your feelings and things like that? Have any of you people had help outside of your family?

I have noticed with my partner he becomes very frustrated with himself as he likes food and is a good cook?

I never had any emotional issues post op but I have read on here that some people experience an array of emotions. Anything from depression to frustration to anger to irritability to extreme happiness. It is about the hormonal changes. How far out is your partner? Usually it stabilizes after a few months but everyone is different.

I can relate to all those. It’s been 5 months since surgery. Yes he is loosing lots of weight but I have found it has changed his mood in a lot of ways. I myself if I was obese I would seek other ways.

You need to ask what he is feeling! Take in to account the total life change regarding food, body image and comments from others. As a person who loves to cook, it difficult to cook a two bite meal and to cook for my husband, it been a challenge to to cook the right amount, so as not to waste. Things will get better as you both move through this journey.
