    Hi J2001,

    I am from the UK.
    But currently live in Turkey.

    Were you going through NHS?

Or were you looking to pay for your surgery?
If you would like to know more of the cost involved in Turkey at my Hospital, I can tell you it is 12,000 TL.
    For everything!
No matter what or how long you stay in Hospital.

The exchange rate at the moment is that in GB Pounds £2,258.
But that is via my Hospital in Antalya Turkey.
    With a Bariatric Professor Bulbuller.
    Airport is 10 mins away!

That is for your stay in Hospital, all your tests beforehand (Done the day before scheduled surgery)
A translator available 24 hours everyday and they are so Lovely and professional.

We are constantly in contact via whatsapp.
I was due surgery January 9 2018 and went there for all my tests January 8 and they found calcium in my blood which led to the same wonderful professor operating on me to take out my 2 parathyroid glands.

So although my surgery for weight loss is not until March 2 2018. ( Due to having to undergo Thyroid op)

I have been through their wonderful Hospital and have been looked after by my surgeon and his team already for my Thyroid.
He is kind and compassionate and I trust him.
Can't say anymore than I was in the very best place for me and I am so grateful for the parathyroid surgery as I did not realise how ill I felt until after this surgery.
If you want any more info let me know.
Hope it helps, as I had to travel 300 Kms to get there and I was so stressed about how it would be.
I can honestly say I adore that Hospital and their staff.
Looking forward to my surgery - despite the nerves of a new beginning - but that is more about me taking responsibility afterwards not the care I know I will again receive.

Where are you in the UK?
I spent 30 years in London but was born in South Yorkshire.
Happy to help in anyway as lot's of wonderful help is out there.
    All the Best.

Ps He is on Youtube - might help to see who he is and what he does.

I'm sorry you got such terrible news! You must feel awful. I see lots of good advice upthread, though, so maybe one of their suggestions will give you hope?

Hi, Thank you for the info. I am in hampshire but would rather be in Turkey, its gotta be warmer than here. I have never considered Turkey for the op, but it is lovely to hear from someone A, who lives there and B, with experience of the surgeon. I may have a look . thank you

What a good idea , why dont I try eating healthy and exercising, its sounds soooo easy, wish I had thought of that myself over the 20 yrs I have been overweight!

Why didnt you do it that way , when you were 5+ stone overweight ??

I am a medical professional and am fully aware of the impact of surgery, and this decision has not been taking lightly.

Seriously though, your response is exactly the reason no-one but my husband and you lot know I'm going for this op.

I have over 5 stone , 80lbs to lose before I am in the healthy BMI range, to me that is no small battle !

I just saw a price of €5000,- for a gbp in Belgium.
Not sure yet what a sleeve would cost.
    I'll keep looking for you.

    Hi J2001,

Glad to be able to share. MyTurkish friend found my Surgeon for me.
She has had the procedure of a sleeve at 5 ft and 110 kg, She was able as a Turkish Citizen get hers done for free on the health care system that Turkish Citizens pay into.
She had researched for over a year and travelled from 1 region to the next and She wanted my surgeon but he is a professor and he has to charge for the operation as from 9 - 3 he must give his time for free to educate the future generation.
He then operates every afternoon in this private Hospital.
So How did my friend do - well she is now 50 kg after 18 months of her sleeve and that is my inspiration.
Only my hubby knows about this and my friend and of course this forum.
    I need this for me.
So 2 weeks today I am going for my surgery.
By the way using google translate - I was able to talk in detail with all the other WLS patients in the hospital.
They are so lovely and all doing so well and keeping in touch with me.
So for me I also made friends despite my lack of Turkish we all speak to each other.
Let me know how you get on.

By the way its 3 C today and its pouring with rain.
    It was 19C on Monday.
So although its winter and we have the seasons, it can vary.
    Keep in touch.
If you need any more info let me know.

I would also say Antalya airport is 10 mins away saw the planes taking off from my hospital window so could be a consideration.
    xx

This surgery at any weight is still work and not an easy fix. You probably can pay cash in Mexico or another country. I’m sorry i don’t like the idea of putting weight on. Your so close you can do it on your own. i would work with a nutritionist and counselor if I were you. all the best.
Respectfully Tamera she has got a good amount of weight to lose at 5 stone. I think it's perfectly reasonable to have surgery in her situation. Why would she wait to get to a BMI of 40?
