TEAS - what kind if both non-herbal and non caffeine?

Just got told that I am not supposed to have herbal or caffeinated teas. What kinds are left? As far as I know, all the non-herbal have caffeine in it. SOOO confused. On preop and have been told so many different things now that I have no idea anymore what is right or what is wrong.

I've been allowed caffine and coffee and tea all along. i actually went off it a bit just after surgery but am enjoying it again now. I think the rational is that caffine can dehydrate you.... but they don't worry about that here and just say drink your water too. Everywhere has different rules. Like here in Australia they do not allow jello post op. It's a massive no no as they say it can get stuck. But in America it's a big jello party! I think you will be alright with an odd cup of tea! I actually drink a lot of fruit tea... rosehip and hibiscus... I love it and wished I had taken a box to hospital as they gave me a couple of fruit teabags and i found them so soothing.

Republic of Tea has a lot of caffeine free choices (ginger peach is my favorite). I also had a coupon for Bigelow tea and they have a decaf berry that I like a lot. The key is to not limit yourself to what’s in your grocery store- look online as well (prices are often better anyway, provided you don’t have to pay shipping). And remember that with flavored teas, only steep the bag for no more than 30 seconds, or it’ll end up bitter.

Forgot to answer your question about drinking tea/coffee. The reason they DON’T want you to (at least immediately) is because your body needs water more than anything else. i Was told to wait at least a month post-surg.

I was never told to give up caffeine and never did.
