What problems are you having, exactly? Understanding the pre- or post-op diet? It can be really confusing, so make sure you talk to your doctor or Nutritionist. My procedure was endoscopic, so I healed faster and moved through the food stages more quickly than most people here, so my post-op advice won’t mean diddly.

The PRE- op stuff? Well, ya just gotta suck it up. Hopefully your doctor gave you specific brands of protein shakes to use. If not, I recommend Naturade Total Soy meal replacement. I’ve only tried the chocolate, but yum!!!

Good luck and keep reading some of the other bloggers— they’ll have a better idea of what’s important.

Your surgeon or nutritionist should give you all that information. If they didn't, get in touch with them. Every doctor has different requirements, so what I did pre-op may not be what you'll do. For example, I had a 5 day pre-op diet, some have 2 weeks, and some have none. Then what you can eat/drink varies a lot too. I could only have liquids, but others can have one healthy meal a day.

If you're referring to compliance/adherence to the pre-op diet, I struggled greatly. My issues with insatiable hunger and irritability didn't end until the moment I was sleeved.

Once I had the sleeve, it was as if a switch had been flipped. My compulsive drive to eat was gone. Three years has passed since my surgery and the compulsive drive to eat is still gone.

Do you have to lose a certain amount of weight before you can have the surgery? Start with small doable changes. Cut out soda. Cut out sugars. Eat protein first and then veggies. Try to cut back on carbs. I am sure right before your surgery you will have a set diet?! Most people do but I have seen some people who have none whatsoever. Really depends on the surgeon. BUT in my OPINION...not being able to lose pre op is not an indictor of success post op. So hang in there.
