2 days post op. Soups?

For the most part I feel fine. Pill swallowing is rough, makes me want to throw up. I'm just sipping water, plus a few sips of a clear protein drink. I'm wondering what kinds of soup I can have. Are they allowed in liquid phase.

2 days is still really early on. You need to let your tummy heal and break it in gently. After day three I was put on apple juice and gatoraid. The clear liquid phase then goes on to clear broth for something savoury.

The most important thing is to keep yourself hydrated.

Only soup broth with nothing in it, like bouillon preferable sodium free. We also suggest WonTon soup but only the broth, it contains sodium which aids in relieving the upset "new tummy." You are really early on and straight liquid, very light protein shakes in a few days, S/F jello, ice pops S/F are best. The goal is to hydrate at this point, slow and steady will do it. I found Bone broth which has a great deal of protein (for a clear liquid) -- got mine on Amazon. I liked all flavors except the one with lemon grass. But it was very helpful.

Clear liquids, as defined by my NUT, means you can see through it, lol. I need simple instructions.

Didn't you get any instructions from your surgeon/nutritionist? I basically was given a bariatric "bible" with exactly what I could eat and when. 1st 2 weeks were liquids and protein drinks, soft foods 3rd week, and additional foods added for the 4th and 5th week until I was cleared for all foods at 6 weeks.

Yes I have instructions from doctor. I was confused why post were being made that they were 3 or 4 days out and were eating soups other than broth.

Every doctor seems to have different instructions. I would just do what yours says to do! You'll do great! Every day will get better.

Only broth at that stage. Oddly enough I could only tolerate the broth from one Chinese restaurant in my area. Everything else tasted horrible to me.

I recently tried a fish broth. It was really tasty. Pieces of fish, carrots, broccoli, garlic, coriander (cilantro) salt and pepper all boiled up, strained and drank the juice, yummy! My wife ate the chunks!

I was on clear liquids while in hospital for 4 days then my doc cleared my for full liquids.

Clear stage sucked but like others I got my partner to get some chicken soup from our fav Chinese restaurant, after crap powdered watery chicken soup served up on hospital, it tasted like liquid gold - yum !!

Get yourself a stick blender, easy to make home-made soups

I was on full liquids post op. So I had creamed soups made with nonfat milk. Granted I only had a tablespoon or two at a time. I was told no pills for 30 days but there was no way I was crushing my BP meds so I took them anyways.
